Admissions Advisor (Administrative)



The Admissions Advisor is the “front line” college position who assists new and prospective students interested in attending The American College of Financial Services. The incumbent has a broad knowledge of the college and its policies, degree programs, courses, and admissions requirements. In addition, the admissions advisor assists prospects to the point of application and enrollment. The admissions advisor also leverages ongoing marketing materials and opportunities provided by Sugar CRM to serve prospects or applicants. The admissions advisor understands the best practices in the higher education industry and demonstrates an understanding of the needs of adult learners and non-traditional students. The admissions advisor provides prospective and new students with the information necessary to make an informed decision about enrollment. The incumbent executes the strategy regarding follow-up with prospective and new students during the enrollment cycle.

Expected Contributions

  • Provides immediate, ongoing, and efficient information to prospects and students in a timely manner via telephone or email
  • Protects the privacy of student accounts through compliance with federal student privacy law
  • Executes efficient marketing strategies and communications
  • Demonstrates skill & proficiency in using Customer Relationship Management (CRM/ Sugar or Peoplesoft) and other software applications used in enrollment management
  • Resolves routine and escalated student concerns in a professional, efficient manner
  • Meets or exceeds performance goals and metrics as determined by department leadership
  • Adheres to assigned work schedule and works as required to facilitate enrollment for prospective students
  • Makes educated admissions decisions regarding fulfillment of admission requirements and follow-up strategies
  • Effectively builds relationships with prospective and/or current students by representing the college through email, phone or chat
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Three to five years of directly related experience and  service background
  • Experience with online and/or higher education preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work under time-sensitive deadlines
  • Ability to give well- organized informative and engaging presentations
  • Ability to handle escalated issues with and on behalf of students calmly and appropriately and to take initiative to resolve problems and offer solutions
  • Ability to learn quickly and work in a high-energy team environment
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Experienced and proficient in utilizing Windows operating system, Microsoft office suites (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams messenger, etc.), and internet browsers (Microsoft Edge, Chrome, Firefox & Internet Explorer) 
  • Understand financial services and the insurance landscape and be able to speak with students about them; training will be provided
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with prospects and students
  • Effective listening skills
  • The ability to work with a diverse group of students of different ages
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as a team player by sharing information and offering assistance to colleagues
  • Demonstrated knowledge of designations and degrees offered at the American College of Financial Services

Salary Grade Minimum: $21.13/Hour
The salary of the candidate selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, education, internal equity, departmental budgets, qualifications, licenses, specialty, and training.
