Aircraft Mechanic Apprentice (Manufacturing)



The Aircraft Mechanic Apprentice will engage in on-the-job-training and related classroom training to assist in the repair, replacement, or overhaul of aircraft structural, drive train, flight control, Powerplant, and/or avionics components.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
• Complete 3,800 hours of employment and 288 hours of related classroom training over two years.
• Learn to read and interpret maintenance manuals or other technical data to determine the feasibility and method to perform the assigned tasks.
• Learn to inspect aircraft structures and/or aircraft airframe systems and components (such as mechanical flight control, hydraulic, drive train and fuel systems) following defined inspection program and utilizing visual inspection techniques or inspection aids (such as precision measuring equipment) as required.
• Learn to replace or repair damaged or worn aircraft structural or dynamic (rotary) components utilizing general hand tools and pneumatic tools and structural repair equipment.
• Learn to perform removal, assembly, and replacement of aircraft component or system parts as required.
• Learn to properly document all inspection findings and work performed/corrective action in the appropriate maintenance records to meet established standards.
• Learn to maintain work areas and tools in a clean and organized manner, practices proper tool and FOD control.
• Learn to perform work safely and utilizes the appropriate technical data for the assigned task.
• Learn to monitor and support continuous improvement activities by utilizing Lean and continuous improvement tools to identify and eliminate waste in all forms to improve quality and safety, decrease lead time, and reduce cost.
• Conducts oneself in accordance with the Company's Core Values.
• Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE 
• Must have at least one of the following: High school diploma, GED, Certificate of High School Equivalency, Work Keys Bronze Level Career Readiness Certificate; or complete a validated community college test to establish equivalent competency in reading, writing, and math comprehension skills.
• Strong aptitude for acquiring new mechanical skills and knowledge
• Ability to learn and obtain knowledge required for Airframe license
• Ability to learn and gain experience in structural (sheet metal) repairs, modifications, restorations, and alterations preferred
• Ability to learn and gain experience in all phases of aircraft maintenance to include component installation
• Ability to locate, read, and follow the technical data appropriate for the assigned task

• Ability to use precision measuring equipment and hand tools appropriate to the assigned tasks
• Ability to work overtime and/or weekends as assigned, depending on production needs
• Ability to work in a shop environment or work outdoors locally or in remote locations as needed for customer support
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
