Environmental Scientist (Biotech)



Seneca Environmental Services, a division of Seneca Companies, Inc., is currently seeking an Environmental Scientist for environmental work.  Environmental Scientis would be responsible for gathering, interpreting and analyzing geologic data and/or records obtained from fieldwork to determine the risk of contamination by hazardous materials on client sites. 

Responsibilites:

  • Organize projects with regard to timely completions and detail.  
  • Perform data compilation and organizing final deliverables for clinets and state regualtory agencies.  Responsible for technical report writing. Confer with clients and state agencies regarding collection of necessary information and scheduling of site visits.  Incudes completion of written and verbal interaction while maintaining acceptable levels of confidentiality and customer service.  
  • Collects soil, water and other field samples and performs site checks.  Provide findings and recommendations for review of upper level staff.  Requires growing introductory knowldege of hydrogeology, site investigations and rules and regulations.
  • Draft site plans, technical maps and other project documents and materials on computer.  
  • Work directly with Project Managers to complete field activites.  

Requirements:

  • ​Bachelor's degree in a related subject
  • 1-3 years of related experience in a similar industry/or equivalent training 
  • Basic knowledge of the principles of geology and understanding of remediation practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and  schematic drawings
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions to gather samples
  • Ability to perform heavy physical labor exerting up to 100 lbs of force occassionaly and up to 50 lbs frequently.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy is needed.
