WORLD Channel shares stories that humanize complex issues. WORLD presents the best of public media in news, documentaries and fact-based informational programming that helps us understand conflicts, movements and cultures that may be distinct from our own. WORLD's original content offers a national platform to makers examining issues too often ignored by mainstream media. These emerging and master filmmakers spotlight a diversity of voices, telling stories not heard elsewhere. JOB OVERVIEW
WORLD is growing it's production, acquisitions and distribution unit and is hiring a for the newly created position of Director of Acquisitions and Distribution Strategies. This position will help lead the expansion of acquisitions and distribution of WORLD's original content to additional platforms here in the U.S, around the world. Duties will include helping to broker new co-productions and acquisitions, leading efforts to expand the distribution of content to additional platforms. Will also work with WORLD's Executive Producer nurture and grow a diverse group of content partners and contributor organizations, festivals who believe in WORLD Channels mission and regular work in collaboration to source content from independent producers. This new position is essential to executing on WORLD's vision of amplifying under respected voices and storytellers in public media.
RESPONSIBILITIES

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree required. Preferred MFA or MA in film of MBA Business. Foreign Language (Eg. Spanish, Mandarin, French ). A minimum of 5-7 years'related acquisition and distribution experience. A strong journalism background with experience working in production at some level. Experience managing and trafficking projects from acquisition to shutdown.
