Engineering-Structural-Internship (Special Projects Division) (Architecture)
The Seattle, WA office of KPFF's Special Projects Division is seeking qualified Structural Engineer Interns that are ready to launch their educational experience into the professional world. The successful candidate(s) will have the opportunity to be directly involved in a wide variety of challenging projects including ports & harbors, ferry terminals, large vessel piers, industrial developments, municipal structures, and high profile design-build infrastructure. We are looking for self-motivated people who are eager to develop design and project management skills and who are passionate about providing exceptional client service.
Structural Engineers within KPFF's Special Projects Division enjoy the freedom of being the prime consultant on the majority of our projects. We use a holistic approach to project management that requires you as the Structural Engineer to not just provide structural engineering services, but to SOLVE your client's PROBLEM. This approach puts you in the role of project manager and allows you to see the big picture on every project. This is a rewarding and enjoyable place to be, giving you direct access to the client and owner. Current project types and potential work includes:
•Container Terminal Infrastructure design and construction support
•Large movable structures and bridges
•Ports; wharf design, waterway dredging, terminal operations building
•Fisheries Engineering; hatchery building and pond design, diversion and intake structures
•Marinas; fuel station design
Minimum Qualifications and requirements
•Currently enrolled in a BSCE program
•Completed 90 credits or more by the start of the 2016 summer internship
•Basic knowledge of engineering fundamentals
•Effective written and verbal communication
•Ability to work effectively in a team environment
•Strong technical and organizational abilities
Preferred Requirements & Skills
•Graduating senior or enrolled in a MSCE program
•EIT
•Previous engineering intern or graduate level work experience
•Knowledge in SAP2000, MS Excel, and VBA, AutoCad,
•Willingness to work on a variety of non-building project types

Pacific Northwest offices of KPFF's Special Projects Division are located in Westlake Tower in Seattle and along the Ruston Way Waterfront in Tacoma. These offices are part of a dynamic 60+ person group that provides planning, civil & structural engineering, machinery design, and project management. We provide these services on a wide range of project types through all stages of development.
