Applications Engineer (Architecture)
This position is responsible for pre-sale and sales application assistance on all RHPC products to ensure proper application and minimize the Company's exposure to product liability. The incumbent is also responsible for assisting in the development of departmental training programs and Company sponsored application training for field sales people and customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Review and approve site surveys to verify proper application of RHPC products. The review includes the collection of missing information, coordination of application layouts, advising representative of additional material requirements, providing installation instructions and product restrictions.
Quote all products and/or options that are not included in the Published Price List. This includes determining customer needs, vendor negotiation, generation of a formal quotation and project management once the quotation turns into an order.
Design special Vehicle Restraint bracketing as required using AutoCad or Solidworks.
Create sales support documents such as pit details, and approval drawings, as required.
Review pre-sale specifications and request approval drawings whenever required. This may include customer visits, Fly-In support and job site visits.
Assist in the development of departmental and interdepartmental training programs.
Assist in the development of internal and external Company sponsored application training seminars for field sales representatives.
Support the Fly-In program and/or Sales Vice Presidents by providing direct application assistance to customers.
Provide regular input to the departmental managers to help develop new and more efficient methods of applying and pricing products.
Provide product training to new hires and representatives, along with ongoing training of current personnel. Develop, implement and document policies and procedures necessary to improve maximum departmental efficiency.
This position requires daily contact with Customers, Regional Managers, Representatives, Engineering, Purchasing, as well as personnel within the Applications Group. The incumbent acts as a resource to the Regional Managers for information and advice regarding special applications.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
Support sales efforts through timely and accurate application assistance.
Develop, implement and document policies and procedure necessary to maximize applications efficiency.
Reduce Corporate liability by specifying proper equipment and installation requirements for RHPC products.
Help reduce cost and improve Engineering/Manufacturing lead times by accurately compiling special product application information and providing accurate list prices, based on approved formulas for those special product requests.
Maximize Corporate profitability through accurate pricing.
Promote positive customer and representative relationships through timely and appropriate application assistance.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Four year degree in Mechanical Engineering, but other engineering disciplines will be considered. Preferred experience will include working knowledge of electromechanical devices, the basics of concrete and steel structures, industrial control circuits, AS400 system and JD Edwards/Oracle. Working knowledge of Autocad required, Solidworks desired. Familiarity with Microsoft software, including ability to access files and to create libraries is required, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to effectively work with people to resolve problems.
