U.S. Public Affairs Director- Health and Nutrition Policy (Finance)
The U.S. Public Affairs Director, Health and Nutrition Policy, provides central services for corporate as well as segment priorities with a focus on the areas of human and pet food advocacy, issue, and stakeholder management. The Director will join the U.S. Government Relations Service Center, working closely with Corporate Affairs and Legal Associates in the U.S.
What are we looking for?
Minimum of BS/BA with graduate degree (law, business, public policy) strongly preferred.
Expertise in Health & Nutrition public policy, legislative and regulatory affairs, issues management, government relations, public affairs.
8+ years of relevant experience in the Washington DC and/or state policy arena.
Strong preference for someone with food industry or animal/pet industry experience.
Some pre-established relationships with key policy makers throughout the United States.
What will be your key responsibilities?
Develop and lead Mars advocacy with the U.S. Congress, U.S. regulatory agencies and support the Mars State and Local Policy Director on all health and nutrition policy issues.
Support U.S. Public Affairs and North American segment colleagues and other senior leadership by understanding key and complex policy trends/issues at the market level and developing applicable content for issue management and advocacy.
Coordinate internal North America Food Policy Group, responsible for developing cross-segment, cross-function positions and strategies for implementation in North America and for developing guidance for global policy position development.
Engage with regional and industry bodies (trade associations, industry groups) in support of Mars, Incorporated's positions and interests.
Contribute to shaping a policy environment that enables the world we want tomorrow for people and pets.
Develop and manage the execution of strategies to reach and engage external stakeholders in support of Mars, Incorporated's, including all U.S. market businesses, policy advocacy objectives and interests.
Ensure connectivity of U.S. Public Affairs to the Global Public Affairs Team, North American Food Policy Group, and U.S. business leaders, including providing leaders with policy insights and tools to achieve business strategies and goals.
