Director - Purchasing - Non-Production Materials (Finance)
Schaeffler, a global automotive and industrial supplier, is seeking a Director - Purchasing - Non-Production Materialsfor our Fort Mill, SC location. This position is responsible for developing and implementing activities that are in support of and in alignment with Divisional and Corporate Strategic Purchasing initiatives. This individual will provide leadership and direction to the Schaeffler North America organization through sharing of commodity expertise and provide active and vibrant commodity or product line leadership.
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
Supervise and provide leadership to Indirect Material Buyers.
Develop commodity strategies pursuant to identifying productivity and supplier rationalization opportunities for Indirect Material throughout Schaeffler North America.
Act as liaison between North American and the global initiatives.
Assist Regional Vice President in strategic planning and project management.
Report KPls for the respected business unit, and production sites.
Support Budget process for North America Indirect Spend.
Drive for continuous improvement of processes with a goal of reducing total costs.
Manage the daily operations of the Indirect Purchasing Organization to ensure that the material and service requirements are met in a timely, efficient, effective and ethical manner.
Provide continuous staff development opportunities to ensure staff possesses sufficient training and required skill levels to perform their assigned tasks in a proficient manner, promoting and supporting on going teamwork within the department.
Responsible for all indirect Purchasing personnel decisions including hiring, firing, and training of staff.
Maintain current knowledge of advance purchasing methods and techniques, the Uniform.
Commercial Code and applicable laws, rules and regulations as to be able to recommend revisions to existing practices maximizing efficiency, effectiveness, customer satisfaction and statutory compliance.
Continually evaluate products and services offered by existing and prospective vendors.
Through evaluation of competitive proposals, assist department in selecting the vendor most appropriate to meet their needs.
Advise legal counsel of potential or actual legal complications pertaining to purchasing activities.
Establish and implement purchasing strategies, policies and procedures.
Establish, build and maintain relationships with all key suppliers.
Negotiate pricing, contracts and payment terms with suppliers.
Support Operational Reviews.
Implement required systems to support automation (ex. e-catalogs, automated ordering).
Qualified candidates will have:
BA-BS or relevant experience.
Purchasing experience.
Strong Negotiation, Project Management and Problem Solving Skills.
Experienced in working with cross-functional teams.
Excellent PC skills.
