Who are we:
Support for Early Learning and Families (SELF) collaborates with the Educational Service District (ESD) 112 in Vancouver, WA to provide staffing and talent management for multiple Child Care Centers largely throughout Southwest WA. Our staff serve infants through school age children and their families. We employ over 150 employees and are dedicated to ensuring every child in our community thrives. General Description of Position:
Under the supervision of the FSS Lead, an ECEAP Family Support Specialist provides comprehensive and integrated family support services to families enrolled in the ECEAP program. This FSS works approximately 10 months a year and follows a school year calendar. Must maintain flexible hours to provide services when parents are available, however, typical hours are between 8a-5p.
Minimum/Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
An associate or higher degree with the equivalent of thirty college quarter credits of adult education, human development, human services, family support, social work, or related field. The thirty credits may be included in the degree or in addition to the degree.
Experience working with children and families from diverse cultures and lifestyles.
Must have reliable transportation and able to work outside traditional working hours occasionally to meet the needs of our families.
Knowledge of community resources and services available to children and families.
Experience working in an Early Head Start and/or ECEAP.
Recent successful experience working with children and families in Infant, Toddler or Preschool settings.
Expertise using Microsoft Office applications, including Calendar, Sharepoint, and TEAMs.
Ability to be very detailed oriented and able to meet projected deadlines for data entry.
Experience providing comprehensive services to children birth to five years in one or more of the following content areas: health, early childhood education, nutrition, mental health, and/or children with disabilities.
Bilingual in Spanish/English a plus.
Essential Functions:
Conduct outreach, recruitment, enrollment and orientation activities for families participating in Early Care and Education programs.
Develop and maintain relationships with children, families, community agencies and partners.
Collaborate with other staff, as appropriate, to develop and support individualized family goals that focus on strengths, responsibilities and timetables and strategies for achieving these goals.
Promote parent and family involvement in all aspects of the program through home visits, parent meetings, family events and policy council.
Provide comprehensive child and family services utilizing relationship-based family support principles, assisting families with referrals and follow-up to appropriate community resources.
Ensure enrolled children receive preventative health related services as required by program standards.
Establish and maintain complete and accurate records, child files and all required program forms.
Collect child and family data and enter in program software meeting timeliness standards and deadlines.
Fulfill program deliverables in accordance with performance standards and timelines.
Provide support for all transitions involving the family and/or child.
Participate in staff professional development and policy council.
Plan, conduct, and participate in meetings, programs, and activities for parents and staff. This may include occasional nights and weekends.
Establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with staff, program participants, and the community.
Maintain confidentiality of program and client information.
Maintain an up to date and accurate calendar to ensure program needs are met.

Physical/Strength Requirements:
Regular attendance during scheduled work hours.
Requires the ability to move or traverse about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, center activities, etc.
Moderate or frequent exposure to loud noises, outside weather elements, and temperature changes.
Lifting requirements include the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects including, the human body.
Job involves sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, grasping, bending, stooping, crouching, pushing, and/or pulling. Position involves physical mobility with or without reasonable accommodation to perform essential functions of the job.
Employment Requirements:
Ten hours of continuing education required annually per child care licensing requirements. Completion of 10 hours of ECE training required annually.
Must present a professional demeanor in behavior and dress.
Successful completion of a portable background check and clearance through the Department of Children, Youth, and Families, post hire, paid for by SELF.
Valid CPR, first aid, and HIV/BBP training, conducted at the employees' expense.
Successful completion of an initial health examination that includes screening for tuberculosis and assurance from an MD, LNP, of PA that an employee does not, because of communicable disease, pose a health or safety risk to the populations served. The health exam is conducted at the employees' expense.
Valid negative TB test completed within the previous twelve months.
Must provide records indicating you have received the MMR vaccine or proof of immunity.
Must provide proof of the COVID 19 vaccine, or submit valid religious or medical exception.
