Executive Director, Strategic Programs (Biotech)

As a member of the Global Marketing Leadership team, this role will work closely with our marketing and divisional leadership team to help grow and  scale our business effectively.  This role will manage the strategy, intelligence and customer delight team driving the market planning and market strategy work of the organization.  In this role, you will have an opportunity to make an immediate impact on CHI strategic initiatives, communication objectives and project manage key projects, driving both the strategic vision and project execution.

This role requires a highly resourceful, self-driven individual with the ability to partner, execute, and lead through influence. You will be the right hand of the Global VP of Marketing and CHI President to execute on all major Business Unit priorities.

This role will work collaboratively and in close partnership with other key stakeholders of the leadership team, including Commercial, Marketing, R&D, HR, Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, IT.

Key responsibilities:

  • Business Strategy Development for CHI Division:
    • Define new business strategies at the divisional level
    • Oversee strategic business initiatives from design through successful execution
    • Manage the market, competitive and customer intelligence team conducting the research needed to inform 5 year divisional strategies
    • Prepare and execute business strategy materials and presentations.
  • Marketing and divisional communications:  Partner with the Communications team to create high quality presentations for the EC, Board of Directors and other departments/divisions as required.
  • Be a thought partner to leadership on the organization's vision, priorities, challenges, and team culture.
  • Business Intelligence:
    • Lead that team to design a framework to collect, analyse, and share impactful competitive intelligence and intelligence based business recommendations within the CHI Lonza Business Division – covering Oral Dosage Forms, Ingredients, and Nutrition CDMO Services
    • Ensure CI needs are identified - proactively identify competitive knowledge gaps and make recommendation on how to close gaps
    • Assess that the right sources of information are identified and acquired where possible, while managing in-bound information channels
    • Attend must go industry trade-shows and webinars
    • Share intelligence and business recommendations with the organization to ensure organization is  aware of latest activities
  • Customer Delight:  Lead and manage the NPS program for CHI working cross functionally across divisions of the roll out of the CHI Pilot to the rest of the organization

You're informed by data. You understand how to utilize qualitative and quantitative information to support impactful decisions.
  • Ambitious: Strong strategic skills required to think long term and the results orientation to focus fiercely on execution through process and rigor. Success in a strategy or operations role, with a special strength in executive-level advising and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Energetic and detail oriented: Comfortable moving at a fast pace and working in ambiguity.

Key requirements:

  • A  Master's degree in Business or Marketing related fields
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in the market research and competitive intelligence field
  • Knowledge in the Pharma and/or Nutrition Markets is a plus
  • Global mindset with demonstrated ability to work with remote/virtual teams
  • Team player and able to develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders across functions
  • Strong analytical skills and demonstrated ability to synthesize large amounts of information into actionable insights and crisp presentations
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills required with a demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively with middle and senior levels of management
  • Program/project management experience
  • Self-starter with the ability to operate independently
  • Excellent English
