Cell Therapy Technical Trainer (Biotech)

Lonza Houston's Cell and Gene Therapy Facility is the largest in the world and our facility is growing. We are looking for professionals to grow with us and we have this exciting opportunity in the Cell Therapy  group. The Cell Therapy (CT) Technical Trainer provides classroom and hands-on aseptic and technical training and coaching. The CT Technical Trainer works closely with department Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure training is reflective of the current CT processes. The CT Technical Trainer works closely with the Trainer Lead to coordinate and administer training programs and schedules for new hires and current employees.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide classroom and hands-on aseptic and process-specific and general technical training.
  • Assess trainee competency, provide feedback, and coach trainees for success.
  • Work closely with Cell & Gene Therapy (CGT) network SMEs to effectively design and align training programs which build core aseptic and general process expertise.
  • Assess training programs for continuous improvement, error reduction, and increased operator aseptic and process knowledge and skill.
  • Proactively shares continuous improvement suggestions for training program to the Trainer Lead, based on outcomes of executed trainings
  • Support Trainer Lead to monitor and share progress and outcomes.
  • This position requires excellent oral and written communication skills, across all levels of the organization and ability to authoritatively discuss technical issues with internal and customer experts.

Key requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in sciences preferred
  • Strong experience working in a Cell & Gene Therapy environment
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • Excellent Aseptic Technique and Laboratory Skills
  • Computer software skills (i.e. LMS learning management systems, Microsoft Office)
  • Database and spreadsheet creation and maintenance
  • Organization, record keeping, and planning skills
  • Managing multiple projects, time management skills
  • People management and training methods
  • Able to assess and recommend training needs and training assignments/requirements/curricula. 
  • Ability to lead cross-functional consultation on training strategy, strong facilitation and delivery skills, and ability to coordinate complex training initiatives.
  • Skilled in coaching, training, and facilitation practices
