Accountant III (Administrative)
The employee is expected to be familiar with a variety of concepts, practices, and procedures in the field therefore the employee will rely heavily on their own experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. The employee will be expected to perform a variety of complicated tasks. The employee will work under general supervision.
The tax department is fully remote. This position requires an ethical, self-motivated, and independent professional that can effectively collaborate within a remote team setting.
The Company is building a tax department that maximizes the use of its knowledge, experience, and skillsets and provides extreme value to the Company. The Company is adopting tax technology in a strategic manner to allow the tax department to become more efficient and effective. In addition, the Company invests heavily in providing development programs to develop employees personally and professionally.
Essential Duties:
Corporate Tax Compliance. Prepare and file timely and accurate corporate tax returns, estimated tax payments, and extensions. Plan, direct, and execute various projects, including technology improvement to increase process efficiencies. Demonstrate initiative, creativity, and implement processes that improve the efficiency and accuracy of compliance activities and enhance process narratives.
Sales and Use Tax Compliance. Assist other tax department personnel in the timely and accurate filing of sales and use tax returns.
Tax Reporting. Prepare timely and accurate GAAP and STAT financial statement tax provisions and footnotes. Plan, direct, and execute various projects, including technology improvement to increase process efficiencies. Demonstrate initiative, creativity, and implement processes that improve the efficiency and accuracy of reporting activities and enhance process narratives.
Tax Planning, Research, and Special Projects. Assists with tax planning, research, and special projects including, including but not limited to, developing tax, GAAP, and STAT accounting positions, policies, and procedures. Perform tax research to support Company decision making process. Monitor existing and emerging tax law changes and assess the impact on the Company. Prepare research memoranda, written correspondence and guidance, and other documents for submission to management and taxing authorities. Active participant in BCBSA tax groups.
