I: Job Summary
The QC Specialist I, position supports the Quality Control group at Emergent BioSolutions Rockville Campus to maintain process optimization and manufacturing activities. The Specialist is responsible for performing activities in support of the Microbiology, Environmental Monitoring, Analytical (including testing and method transfer) and Utility testing programs, which includes microbiological product testing, monitoring of the manufacturing production space, and supporting quality initiatives. The individual routinely conducts monitoring, testing, SOP generation and revision, investigation, and implementation of new microbiological / analytical programs as needed.

Desired Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Education: BS in Microbiology/Biology or related field
Experience: 3-5 years (MS with 2-4 years) in the Pharmaceutical or Biotechnology with emphasis in aseptic processing, QC microbiology, environmental monitoring, water system, quality control, validation, analytical testing, method transfer,or manufacturing processes.
IV: Physical/Mental Requirements
Type/keyboard, visual acuity, good eye/hand coordination, stand, walk, sit, twist/turn, climb, reach outward, reach above shoulder, hand dexterity, bend, squat/kneel, sense of feel, sense of hearing, sense of smell, lift/carry 15lbs, and pull 15lbs. Use phone, fax, copier, and computer. Use hand tools and operate fork lift. Organize/coordinate, analyze/interpret, calibrate precise measurements, problem solve, make decisions, supervise, plan, communicate, prepare written communications, and prepare transaction documents. Drive automatic/standard vehicle. Work outdoors, around noise above conversation level, in hot/cold temperatures, in high humidity, where ventilation is needed, in multiple locations, with restricted access to laboratory, and in contact with Select Agents.
