Bartender (Food Services)



JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION: BARTENDER
CATEGORY: NON-EXEMPT

SUMMARY: Responsible for preparing beverages for patrons according to recipe, as well as serving food for patrons that dine in the bar area. Assists with Busser/Runner duties as directed. A friendly, accommodating demeanor, as well as an ability to multitask, are essential for success in this position.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Take beverage, cocktail, and food orders from POS tickets and patrons directly. Mix ingredients (such as liquor, soda, water, sugar, and bitters) to prepare cocktails and other drinks. Prepare all drink garnishes per recipe. Assist patrons in making wine and beer selections, as well as spirits orders.Keep bars, work areas, and tables clean at all times; to include cleaning glasses, utensils, and bar equipment. Account for, and maintain, the security of all bar stock and inventory.Check identification of patrons to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol. Refer to, and follow, the ABC Training protocols when dealing with patron intoxication levels.Follow all safety procedures regarding the operation of all necessary tools and equipment, including knives and blenders, and when changing out beer kegs, CO2 tanks, and soda dispensers. Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Understand government alcoholic beverage service regulations.Possess excellent verbal and interpersonal skills.Ability to interact with members and staff on all levels in a professional, positive, and friendly manner.Ability to adhere to food service policies, procedures, safety, and sanitation.Ability to comprehend and carry out instructions.Ability to work all shifts days, nights, weekends, and holidays.Ability to read, write, and speak English; Bilingual a plus.

EXPERIENCE:

2+ years experience as a Bartender requiredFine dining environment and knowledge of wine service helpful

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:

Servsafe Sanitation certification requiredHigh school diploma/GEDSome Bartender training highly desiredABC Certification required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to bend, stoop, lift and/or carry items up to 25 lbs., up to 50 lbs. with assistanceAbility to stand for prolonged periods of timeAbility to operate a computer, wine opener, and other restaurant equipmentAbility to safely tolerate hands being exposed to liquids frequently, including water, cleaning solutions, alcohol, various juices, and other liquids.Ability to move about freely in a multi-floor buildingAbility to work indoors or outdoors, in many weather conditions
