Surgical Technology Clinical Coordinator (Healthcare)
SUMMARY
The purpose of the Surgical Technology Clinical Coordinator is to ensure appropriate educational clinical experiences for the surgical technology students and availability of sufficient clinical slots/sites. It is the responsibility of the Clinical Coordinator to prepare the students for their clinical experience with lab practice, classroom lectures and scheduling of physicals and clinical orientation for clinical placement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
The Surgical Technology Clinical Coordinator must have knowledge of the surgical technology field and the clinical application of the classroom knowledge. The Surgical Technology Clinical Coordinator must have problem solving skills with critical thinking as a major component of his/her ability. Organization and time management skills are required. The knowledge of and skill with computer applications have become an essential component of performing the duties required of the Surgical Technology Clinical Coordinator.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
The Surgical Technology Clinical Coordinator is responsible for the supervision of students at the clinical sites/laboratory. The Surgical Technology Clinical Coordinator is responsible for the scheduling and supervising of clinical instructors, so that the clinical students are all seen as required by the program.
