Concrete Plant Mechanic (Construction)

A brief summary of the types of projects include, urban expressways, bridges, underground utilities, dam construction, asphalt/concrete paving and water/wastewater treatment plants. 

JOB DESCRIPTION

The incumbent will be responsible to diagnose, adjust, and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical systems and plumbing used in dry and wet batch concrete plants.  The incumbent will need to operate in a safe and efficient manner following all personal protective equipment (PPE) and process requirements. 

ACTIVITIES/TASKS/SCOPE

  • Responsible for general maintenance of all concrete plant operations.
  • Troubleshoot and repair breakdowns.
  • Follow all policies and procedures.
  • Effectively communicate with supervisor.
  • Foster teamwork, positive work environment and overall safety of oneself and others.
  • Ability to operate front bucket loaders, forklift and man lift.
  • Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to identify excessive wear or damage and diagnose defects.
  • Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints and technical drawings
  • Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools.
  • Overhaul and test machines or equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
  • Weld or solder broken parts and structural members as well as fabricate using electric or gas welders.
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Must be at least 18 years or older
  • Must hold valid CDL with a clean driving record
  • 3-5 years of experience in concrete batch plant repair and maintenance required
  • Concrete batching experience preferred
  • OSHA 10 and 30 certifications preferred
