Operations Material Handler (Biotech)

Lonza Pharma & Biotech has an opening for a Material Handler at our Bend, OR location. This is a great opportunity to join the Operations team during substantial growth in a business of developing and manufacturing life-enhancing, life-saving drugs.

Key responsibilities:

  • Receipt/control and issuance of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) and non GMP materials. 
  • Supervise/Review/Approve documentation, e.g. routine cleaning, and equipment transfers
  • Ensure areas have adequate supplies of consumables, other in-house stock items and equipment
  • Master Control reporting and completion of change control, deviations, CAPA (Corrective Action Preventive Action), procedure updates/improvements, shortages and equipment breakdowns
  • Oversee, request, and complete work orders for facility upgrades, repairs, and maintenance in area of responsibility
  • Schedule and assist in equipment and process qualifications/validations within the facility as relevant to area of responsibility
  • Membership in safety committee, sweep team, or Emergency Response Team

Key Requirements:

  • Must be able to work a 12 hour night shift, on a modified work week which includes one day on the weekend
  • High School Diploma or GED (General Education Diploma).  Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience maintaining and operating SAP Inventory control systems
  • Must be able to read, write, and understand Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's)
  • Must be able to meet the requirements to become a site Hazardous Waste Manager
  • Communicate clearly and effectively, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment physical exertion test
  • Perform work in a clean, secure and regulated environment
  • Required to lift 50 lbs. from floor
  • Required to lift 25 lbs. above head while working
  • Must be able to work standing for extended periods of time
  • Ability to use a computer
  • Wears personal protective equipment during shift, i.e. coveralls, scrubs, booties, hair and beard covers, safety glasses, gloves, etc.
