Summary

The Federal Reserve Board (Board) provides students opportunities for career success. The Board's Internship program is designed to provide valuable work experience for undergraduate and graduate students considering careers including, but not limited to, economics, finance and accounting, information systems, and data analysis. The Board believes that by combining academic endeavors with project-related work experience, qualified and capable college students can gain the practical knowledge need in a competitive global job market. Internships are paid positions with salaries commensurate with credit hours; internships may be in-person, remote or hybrid, depending on the needs of the team. Employment in the Board's internship program is granted to U.S. citizens. Applicants must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited university and returning to continue studies after the internship. Interns receive a syllabus or research project plan outlining their projects and goals for the internship. Interns are assigned a supervisor or mentor to guide them through their internship, and regular check-in meetings with their manager to manage performance expectations and assist with learning goals. Interns have access to a wide range of training programs and events for professional development purposes.Facility Services/Plant Operations Internship: The applicant will support Plant Operations which is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the mechanical plant(s) and elevators owned in the Federal Reserve Board (FRB) portfolio. In addition, the candidate will be expected to utilize the latest technology and standards pertaining to daily facility operations of Board assets to include - Identifying process improvements, optimizing equipment performance, budget adherence, operational and maintenance forecasting, standard operating procedure development, planned and corrective maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, life cycle replacements and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Applicants will assist the Plant Manager, Operations Supervisors and Duty Engineers in gathering and analyzing equipment data, troubleshooting equipment faults, developing standard operating procedures to support successful day-to-day operations of FRB facilities, participate and conduct plant and building inspections in the identification and remediation of deficiencies, use a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to enter and export data, trend maintenance history, support project management, and provide world class customer service.

Overview of Division, Section and Team: The primary mission of Plant Operations is to ensure a clean, comfortable, and safe work environment for all FRB staff and visitors.

Expected Projects: Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Vibration Monitoring, Thermography, Critical Asset Planned Maintenance, Asset Warranty Tracking.

Suggested Major/Minor: Engineering, Project Management, Construction, Business Management, Facility Management or any related field.

Required Skills and Knowledge: MS Office, Adobe, CAD

Preferred Skills: Interest in the operation and maintenance of commercial buildings, interest in understanding how mechanical, electrical, building automation systems and HVAC control systems work together to deliver a proper environment, place high priority on customer service, ability to work in a diverse environment, ability to analyze and think critically, good written and verbal communication skills; must be able to interact and display tact and diplomacy at all levels within the Board staff, self-motivated and ability to develop creative solutions.
