Warehouse Teammate / Local Delivery Driver (Finance)

About the Role:

You will:

  • Operate trucks safely and in compliance with Company rules, applicable laws, and regulations. Destinations include job sites, customer facilities, vendor facilities, other Hajoca locations, facilities of other wholesalers, or other locations as directed by management.
  • Load the truck at the Profit Center with Hajoca merchandise to be delivered. Secure the load properly so that nothing will shift, get damaged, or fall from the truck. Ensure that the necessary equipment to safely unload the merchandise is available.
  • Understand the shipping documents that are associated with the merchandise for each delivery and have accurate directions to each delivery destination.
  • Review shipping documentation and ensure order accuracy.

  • Unload correct merchandise from the truck and place it where the receiving party wants it. Obtain legible signature for all merchandise delivered per Company policy and procedure.
  • Collect and secure outstanding payments for all cash sale deliveries prior to releasing the material to the customer.
  • Work with customers at the delivery site to resolve shipping discrepancies quickly and accurately.

  • Load the truck at other locations with merchandise. This includes merchandise picked up at vendor locations, returned by customers, and purchased from other wholesalers.
  • Provide sales leads by noting prospective customer names and addresses discovered in the course of making deliveries.
  • Inspect the truck and required parts and accessories to determine safe operating condition prior to departure from the Hajoca location. Keep truck clean of debris in cab and body.
  • Advise management of any mechanical problems with the truck. At the end of the workday, complete the Driver's Daily Vehicle Inspection Report when driving a delivery vehicle with a gross vehicle weight (GVWR) of 10,001 lbs. or more if a defect or deficiency is found.

  • At the end of the workday, remove keys from the truck and store keys in the approved location.
  • Successfully complete required safety and compliance training programs as assigned.
  • Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.

Receiving Duties
  • Upon receipt of a vendor shipment or customer return, obtain the packing slip and count and verify material received. Note received quantities and all shipping discrepancies (overshipments, undershipments, mis-shipments, damage/shorted freight claim) on the packing slip.
  • Print and verify the PO Receiver and receive material in the system or, when applicable, forward the receiving documents to the office personnel for data entry.
  • If using RF, receive via the device. Printing of the PO Receiver is not required. Note shipping discrepancies on the packing list.
  • If receiving using an Advanced Shipment Notification (ASN), always receive material and quantities indicated on the ASN. Make no changes to those quantities during system receiving. Follow the appropriate process for handling ASN discrepancies.
  • In all cases, handle all shipping discrepancies per procedures or forward appropriate paperwork to designated employee to handle.
  • Identify nonstock, special-order material, and damaged material and store in proper warehouse locations.
  • Note all shipping discrepancies on freight carrier's Bill of Lading; initiate freight claims with freight carriers or forward appropriate paperwork to designated employee.

Picking and Shipping Duties
  • Pick material for orders, note quantities picked on the pick ticket, assemble and package the materials for shipment/pick up. If using RF, pick via the device; a pick ticket is not utilized unless the Profit Center has certain products set to "pick from paper."
  • Check picked material against printed ticket to ensure accuracy. If using RF, audit the order using the device to ensure accuracy.
  • Forward the pick ticket to the appropriate personnel for either Will Call or for creating the Shipping Manifests as appropriate.
  • Complete necessary documentation for customer shipments delivered via thirdparty carrier. • Load and unload trucks, operate warehouse forklift and other material handling equipment safely.
  • Inform immediate supervisor of stock depletions, count discrepancies, or damaged/defective/nonsaleable merchandise that could impact customer service levels.
  • Ensure security and controls are in place and upheld to protect Profit Center assets.
  • Maintain warehouse cleanliness, order, and safety. Remove empty cartons, metal bands, pallets, and other debris. Inform immediate supervisor of safety issues.
  • Assist co-workers in servicing customers.
  • Perform all job functions in accordance with the company's Safety Standards.
  • Successfully complete required safety and compliance training programs as assigned.
  • Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.

About You:

  • Be able to drive a vehicle over 10,000 lbs. As a non-CDL driver, you must:
    • Be at least 21 years old
    • Possess a proper and valid driver's license
    • Have a driving record that meets the criteria for being an Authorized Driver in accordance with Company policy.
    • Be able to pass a Department of Transportation physical examination before beginning work and again at least every two years while employed and performing this job function.
    • year warehouse receiving and material handling experience
    • Knowledge of products sold at the Profit Center preferred.

  • Know the laws, rules and regulations governing driving motor vehicles in general, and commercial motor vehicles subject to Department of Transportation regulations in particular.

  • Be able to learn and operate the computer related systems used in the delivery process.
  • Read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Outstanding customer service and communication skills.
  • Able to quickly develop comprehensive knowledge of products sold at the Profit Center.
  • Able to learn to safely operate a forklift and other material handling equipment in use at the Profit Center.
  • Able to learn and operate the computer related systems used for warehouse operations.
