Process Engineer (Heat Treat) (Architecture)
POSITION SUMMARY:
The main focus will be to improve product quality and reduce cost through optimization of practices and standards, trials of the new processes, methods and materials, stabilization of improvements gained and strong collaboration with research and development teams. Besides investment projects must be planned and realized in the prepared timeline and budget frame.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technical support for heat treating, to improve downstream quality concerns and resolve multi-discipline problems at Vallourec heat treatment lines.
Identifying, track, and evaluate key process indicators to drive quality improvements, productivity gains, cost reduction.
Maintain and improve standard procedures, train the operators, and reduce variation of key process indicators.
Lead the Process Improvement Team(s).
Benchmark the existing and evaluate new technologies, processes, materials.
Use Manufacturing Process Control and/or advanced problem-solving techniques such as Design of Experiments, process capability, SPC and FMEA to isolate and reduce sources of variation and resolve production and quality issues.
Implement root cause analysis and corrective action of non-conformance to mitigate rework, reduce cost and improve quality.
Build technical capabilities, necessary to execute Vallourec Star strategy by identifying and presenting Capital Expenditure Projects.
Coordinate Project activities with production management, quality management, maintenance, contractors, Vallourec international process communities and R&D centers, and external research organizations and universities.
Promote effective communication vertically and horizontally within the organization
Recognizes material and process deficiencies and develops then implements innovative solutions.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND KNOWLEDGE:
Ability to teach and promote problem solving and variation control methodologies to all levels of the organization.
Proven ability to apply manufacturing process control techniques and/or lean manufacturing experience required.
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing within the organization, both vertically and horizontally
Project management skills for process improvement and/or product development.
Strong decision-making skills based on analytical approach to problem solving, including application of statistical techniques.
Ability to work independently and execute objectives in a cross-functional team environment.
Demonstrated leadership skills for potential carrier growth opportunities.
Must possess knowledge of the various characteristics of steel materials and the effect of time and temperature to those material properties.
One to three years of pipe/steel industry required or relevant experience in a related industry.
CAD, Automation, Thermal Process or Combustion related experience preferred.
