Drafter (Engineering)
Provide drafting and design support by creating component models, assemblies, and drawings that exhibit the detail and method of assembly for a variety of mechanical and electrical devices. Maintain ERP and related data according to Bray standard practices.
Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical and electrical devices using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) software. Create and store drawings electronically within the Bray ERP system. Coordinate with and consult team members to design, layout, or detail components and systems and to resolve design problems. Develop and assist with checking of drawings including product components, assembly layouts, general arrangements, manufacturing drawings, and customer submittals. Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed. Check dimensions of components to be used and assign numbers to the components. Layout and draw schematic, orthographic, or angle views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, and systems. Resolve design problems. Consult technical handbooks and tables while in drafting phase. Work closely with Design Engineering team in the development and creation of component drawings, assembly drawings, and Bill-of-Materials. Assist with maintaining and updating standard product technical books. Assist with third party facility audit preparation.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Two year degree in Mechanical Drafting and Design or related field highly preferred.
Hands-on experience or training with SolidWorks or similar CAD program including the following techniques: Part Design, Assemblies, Detail / Assembly Drawings, and PDM File Management is preferred.
Core Competencies:
Working knowledge of ASME Y14.5 Drafting Standard.
Ability to read, understand, and apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
Mechanical skills pertaining to form, fit, and function of mechanical assemblies.
Ability to collaborate with engineering personnel to obtain information needed to complete drawings within assigned timelines.
Understanding of concepts of part design for manufacturing processes (especially molding, stamping, casting, machining and welding).
Attention to detail, regulations, and safety procedures.
Organization & time management skills. Proficient oral and written communication skills.
Team work ethic and have the ability to work autonomously with initiative and urgency.
