Quality Control Technician (Biotech)



 

Arcosa Winn Materials of Kentucky is searching for a Quality Control Technician for our Grand Rivers, KY. plant. In this role you will support a positive safety culture by assisting with plant activities and staff within a 24/7 aggregate environment that is regulated by MSHA safety standards. As a Quality Control Technician, you will ensure quality control, document, and report information, maintain lab standards, monitor stockpiles as well as any other assigned responsibilities.  

Arcosa Winn Materials of Kentucky is a leading producer and distributor in the Western and Southwestern U.S. of lightweight and natural aggregates, including expanded shale and clay, crushed stone, sand and gravel, asphalt rock, and other products.

What you'll do:

  • Conduct routine testing of in-process materials, raw material, environmental samples, and finished materials to ensure quality control of products at the point of production, shipping, and arrival upon the job site.
  • Adhere to testing methods, including American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) and Department of Transportation (DOT).
  • Complete all required reports in a timely and accurate manner by interpreting, documenting, and storing the results.
  • Communicate test results in a timely manner to the Q.C. Manager and properly document in a database.
  • Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained in and around the lab, troubleshoot problems and review basic product specifications.
  • Inspect, calibrate, and maintain testing equipment periodically.
  • Inspect stockpiles, materials sources, and truckloads at plant sites.
  • Monitor the daily construction of the stockpile to ensure that segregation and contamination is kept to a minimum or eliminated.
  • Notify management immediately if contamination is identified.
  • Primary role will be Q.C. but will also be cross trained in the scale house as well as on various pieces of equipment.

What you'll need:

  • Prior training or experience in the materials testing field is preferred.
  • Knowledge of general principles and practices of aggregate production is preferred.
  • Must display knowledge and awareness of construction and mining site hazards.
  • Must possess good math skills and demonstrate the ability to perform simple to moderately complex arithmetic calculations.
  • Must pass state test to gain state technician aggregate license (multiple states).
  • Must have the ability to use computerized equipment and technology.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google, Oracle Business Environment, and other software packages relevant to the position.
