Medical Records File Clerk (Finance)
Handle phone calls regarding medical record documentation
Print/Pull corresponding medical charts and distribute to appropriate personnel as required.
Pull, distribute and import incoming faxes along with relevant chart documentation
Locate/Distribute medical record documentation for staff, physicians, and PA/NPs
Sort and distribute incoming mail
Scan documentation into patient's medical record, to include dictation, lab work, correspondence from physicians, etc.
Coordinate scanning and boxing of medical records with the outsourced record retention service
Purge and process scanned paper medical charts to the outsourced retention service, per policy
Perform other duties as required and assigned by Operations Manager
Other:
Support Medical Record department roles to include Disability, Visit Coordinator, and Record Request
Follow all applicable department and practice policies and procedures
Maintain patient confidentiality; complies with HIPAA privacy and confidentiality guidelines established by the practice
Maintain detailed knowledge of practice management and other computer software as it relates to job function
Attend all regular meetings
Typical Physical Demands:
The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, push a cart, traverse stairs and carry medical records. The employee must be able to use hands and fingers to handle, feel and type, and arms to reach. The employee may be required to bend and stoop and reach in order to retrieve documentation. The employee is regularly required to sit, listen and talk. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 15-30 pounds.
Typical Working Conditions:
Work is performed in an office environment. Work involves frequent contact with staff, patients, and the public. Work may be stressful at times. Contact may involve dealing with angry or upset people.
