Supervision: All Leadership, except Finance and Executive Administrator
Location: The Table, Sacramento
SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, working closely with the CEO and other senior leaders to drive the operational success of the organization. The COO will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of the organizations processes, and implementing strategies to enhance organizational performance. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in nonprofit management, business management, operational excellence, and team leadership.

Prevention Education Equipping students, educators, industries, and service groups with the knowledge and skills to recognize warning signs, build protective behaviors, and take action.

Direct Services Offering case management, education, and employment assistance to survivors and individuals at risk, including services through our drop-in center in Sacramento.

Community Engagement Mobilizing communities, hosting awareness events, and collaborating with policymakers to advance prevention-focused legislation.

SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Team Management & Culture: Lead and manage leadership staff, fostering a positive, trauma informed, mission-driven culture. Serve as a culture carrier, ensuring that organizational values are lived out in daily operations.
Staff Management: Provide leadership, guidance, and support to department heads and their teams.Talent Development: Oversee staff development programs, including training, mentorship, and succession planning.Culture Building: Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and mission-driven organizational culture. Implement a standard of supervision grounded in inclusive leadership practices such as building strong relationships, active listening, clear and transparent communication, consistent and timely feedback and clear expectations. Provide coaching and resources to help resolve and prevent interpersonal and team conflicts and adapt to different leadership styles.Implement policies and strategies that encourage cross-departmental collaboration. Facilitate calm, neutral, and equitable discussions when team dynamics are challenging. Listen to varying perspectives and provide decisive input, with a goal of empowering department heads to take ownership and lead their teams effectively.
Operational Leadership: Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring efficiency and compliance with legal and regulatory standards. Implement and monitor operational strategies to support the organizations mission.
Day-to-Day Management: Oversee daily operations across all departments, including programs, fundraising, development, marketing, finance, human resources, IT, and facilities.Drive and manage the outputs for the annual strategic planPolicy Implementation: Develop and enforce organizational policies and procedures to ensure efficiency, compliance, and alignment with the organizations mission.Provide effective and inspiring leadership as well as stewardship.Implement and lead a continuous quality improvement process throughout the program focusing on systems/process improvement.Promote regular and ongoing opportunities for all staff to give feedback on program operations.
Financial Oversight: Support the CEO and Controller in understanding and monitoring budgets and financial statements. Ensure financial practices align with nonprofit best practices and the organization's strategic goals.
Budget Management: Work closely with the Controller to develop, manage, and oversee the organizations budget.Resource Allocation: Ensure optimal allocation of financial and human resources to meet organizational objectives.Financial Controls: Establish and monitor internal controls to safeguard the organizations assets and ensure financial sustainability.
Program Implementation: Assist CEO and Program Leaders with the implementation of programs, ensuring they align with organizational goals and mission.
Program Oversight: Ensure that all programs are aligned with the organizations mission, goals, and strategic plan.Program Evaluation: Develop and implement systems to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and impact of the organizations programs.Resource Support: Provide operational support to program managers to help them achieve their objectives.Innovation: Foster a culture of innovation by developing and implementing strategic operational improvements that enhance service delivery, increase impact, and support the organizations goals and mission.
Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure that the organization follows governmental laws and industry standards, including those specific to nonprofit governance. Identify and manage operational risks to protect the organization, maintain the organizations reputation and public image, and ensure smooth operations.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that the organization complies with all relevant laws, regulations, and standards, including those specific to nonprofit governance.Board Liaison: Work with the CEO to prepare all reports and updates for the board of directors, and participate in board meetings as needed.Ethical Standards: Uphold and promote ethical standards and practices throughout the organization.Risk Management: Identify, assess, and manage risks to ensure the organizations activities are compliant with legal and regulatory requirements.
External Relations: Responsible for establishing and managing strategic relationships with key stakeholders, representing the organization in public forums, and developing partnerships to enhance organizational impact.
Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, partners, community leaders, and government agencies.Public Representation: Represent the organization in public forums, conferences, and meetings as needed. Act as a potential media contact for the organization, or assign appropriate team members to these opportunities.Partnership Development: Identify and develop partnerships that can enhance the organizations impact and reach.

DESIRED SKILLS
Passion for 3SGFs missionExperience and knowledge designing and implementing non-profit internal controls, tax exempt requirements, and accounting guidelines.Experience managing all aspects of Human Resources, including: hiring and supervisory experience, performance management, conflict and grievance resolution, compensation and benefits, on-boarding, succession planning.Detail-oriented and committed to accuracy and follow through.Excellent customer service skills.Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects within a dynamic work environment, and delegate tasks strategically.Experience working with QuickBooks, Slack, monday.com, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office, database management platforms, and time management software.Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence and executive presence.Analytical abilities necessary to make sound decisions, logical interpretations to review and interpret financial statements and budgets.Strong skill set in prioritizing, strategizing, meeting deadlines and following up on assignments and roles and responsibilities with minimal supervision.Attend evening and weekend meetings and events as required.A strong employment and/or service history that reflects leadership, building and managing high level operations, teams and community engagement.
