NDT Product Quality Program Manager (Level III) (Information Technology)
Position Description:
Superior Tube Company in Collegeville, PA is a global supplier of high-performance alloy precision tubular products with customers from a diverse range of markets including the Aerospace, Energy, Oil & Gas, and Medical markets.
We have an exciting opportunity available for an NDT Program Manager.
The plant manufactures highly engineered and produced-to-order tubes across hundreds of pieces of metal working and annealing equipment. The Product Quality Program Manager is the perfect position for a motivated, hands-on quality professional with an interest in expanding their career. This position reports to the Manager, Manufacturing Engineer and Quality Assurance and will work closely with Production, Quality, Product Development and Customer Service teams in the development and execution of effective quality assurance programs.
This technical position is responsible to establish and execute the NDT strategy for the Superior Tube site. Responsibilities include providing NDT inspection support required in the Quality Department. In addition, qualified candidate will be able to inspect by visual examination or precision measurement with instruments, jigs, fixtures, templates, patterns, designs, assemblies, installations, materials, finishes, mattings, fittings, sizes, dimensions, layouts, locations, and quality workmanship. The position will also involve interfacing with external customers for the purposes of developing, executing, and validating effective quality assurance programs.
Responsibilities:
• Operates Penetrant, Ultrasonic and Eddy Current equipment
• Develops and writes NDT procedures
• Inspects parts and NDT standards for various advanced materials
• Technical NDT inspection training and testing of Level I and Level II team members
• Accept and Reject product per design standards, blueprints, manuals etc.
• Operates special kinds of testing instruments and equipment as required.
• Works from complicated or detailed blueprints, diagrams, engineering orders, etc., to obtain proper specifications.
• May be assigned to various assembly inspection groups or to other phases of inspection of equal or lower level.
• Approves acceptable work or rejects all work which fails to meet required standards and recommends corrective action to prevent recurrence.
• Rechecks when corrective measures have been completed. In all cases inspectors must have had additional training and experience required to handle the more difficult and complicated phases of inspection work.
• Uses inspector tools/equipment (hand and marking tools, electricians and/or mechanics tools)
• Inspectors are required to adhere to and follow the Superior Tube Quality Process, and other related policies, procedures, and processes.
• Interfaces with other team members and external customers to develop and validate QA processes and programs
• Achieve and maintain customer specific NDT certifications
• Support of NADCAP and other NDT audits
Education Required: Associates or Bachelors Degree, or equivalent, in a technical discipline
Experience/skills required:
• Certification as a responsible Level III NDT with experience in testing and inspection of aircraft/defense components; weldments, and fabricated parts.
• NAS 410 UT Level III Certification
• ASNT Level III UT, PT, & ET Certifications
• Technical NDT inspection training and testing of Level I and Level II team members
• Ability to influence by utilizing Ametek – SMP/STC concepts to encourage and develop an understanding of the changing role of inspection through teamwork among Ametek employees
Experience/skills preferred:
• Certified Six Sigma Green/Black Belt.
• Preferred knowledge of precision measuring instruments and special alignments
• MIL-STD 2132 UT and PT Examiner Certifications. Candidates who do not have this certification will be required to achieve and maintain these certifications within 6 months of hire.
