Sr Account Manager-Energy and Sustainabilty Solutions (Finance)



UOP is hiring a Senior Account Manager with accountability in the Refining, Petrochemical, Renewables, Natural Gas and Adsorbent industry. This position will preferably be based in Rosemont, or Des Plaines IL.,

Honeywell Performance Materials and Technologies is a global leader in providing customers with high-performance specialty materials, including fluorine products; specialty films and additives; advanced fibers and composites; intermediates; specialty chemicals; electronic materials and chemicals; and technologies and materials for petroleum refining.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead opportunities through the entire sales cycle: identify opportunities, clarify bid, develop sales strategy, enroll and aligning internal resources, submit proposal, close the deal, work with order management, production planning and service to make, deliver and service the opportunity
  • Manage the customer relationship for assigned customer set. Be able to work on issues through their chain of command and understand the customer business drivers, decision-making process, and key decision-makers.
  • Directly handle repeat client and new client inquiries for small quantity requests of catalyst and/or adsorbents, and requests for samples.
  • Respond to and qualify leads generated by inquiries on UOP website for the region
  • Legal agreement drafting (including NDA's, proposals, and Service Agreements), legal review/negotiation, and agreement execution for clients in the region
  • Develop forecasts of product demand and revenue (for refining, petrochemical, and adsorbents) from any pertinent accounts 36 months into the future.
  • Manage customer relationships and coverage by sharing information with front line Account Managers and assist in developing account plans throughout UOP.
  • Support Business and Technology functions by providing market and competitor intelligence, where appropriate.
  • Drive Business and Contact growth at past clients with no recent UOP purchases in years
  • Report and work with internal resources to resolve customer issues.

Maintain all internal work and sales processes, e.g. customer relation management tools (SFDC and SAPAs a Sr Account Manager here at Honeywell, you will drive strategic growth, manage key accounts, build strong customer relationships, and mentor your team to foster excellence and revenue growth.
  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, or Civil Engineering with at least 2+ years of experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to travel up to 25 - 30% annually both domestically and internationally
  • Prior successful experience in Gas Processing, Chemicals or Refinery & Petrochemical technology
  • Strong process technology knowledge
  • Working knowledge of the application of catalysts and adsorbents in refinery and petrochemical processes and the refining business in the Americas is required.
  • Fluency in English required.

Additional Candidate Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated ability to sell into a competitive marketplace and achieve premium prices by communicating the value achieved by the customer using UOP products and services.
  • 3 or more years of direct product sales and/or sales support experience, or customer care/logistics support, is preferred
  • Experience with adsorption/treating, reforming, isomerization and hydroprocessing is considered ideal.
  • Experience using SalesForce.Com (SFDC) is preferred.
  • The ability to work effectively with other sales colleagues and sales support functions is key.
  • A strong customer and business focus is desired.
