Job Title: Designer II

Reports to: Sr. Design Manager, Women's Fashion Footwear - UGG Footwear

Location: Goleta, CA (Hybrid)

The Role

As a Designer II for UGG Women's Fashion Footwear, you will be a critical team member who helps the design process through a collaborative work environment, translation of briefs, and applied knowledge of consumer targets and market trends. You will work closely with the UGG Footwear Design team to translate seasonal direction into compelling products. You will create original designs that offer global appeal while targeting key consumers, facilitating product creation by creating original designs, materials, color selection, CADs, and merchandise boards while adhering to the seasonal Critical Path calendar.

Your Impact

  • Design products that meet category and overall brand creative direction.
  • Develop concepts, sketches, and product ideation for assigned categories against product briefs within deadlines.
  • Work closely with product and development teams to choose materials and design products within specific pricing goals.
  • Create artwork for new designs to evaluate styling, color, and design combinations.
  • Create cover sketches and technical details for the development team to utilize in expediting tech/spec packages.
  • Support design leadership as needed in tech pack creation, merch board updates, artwork schematics, and other best practices.
  • Assist in training new team members.
  • Contribute to seasonal inspiration planning and attend seasonal kickoff.
  • Collaborate closely with development and product teams to design products to meet product briefs at target cost.
  • Schedule meetings with internal teams and external partners, supplying agendas, relevant samples, and additional materials.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of current consumer and fashion market trends and the ability to interpret those trends into commercial products.
  • Collaborate with Product and Development coordinator to coordinate on access, ordering, and delivery of samples where needed.
  • Manage team samples for easy access to reference and confidentiality.
  • Attend seasonal kickoff and participate in all design travel.
  • May assist in travel/inspiration planning.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in footwear design.
  • Solid understanding of construction and shoemaking process.
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Keynote.
  • Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of manufacturing from sketch to tech pack, to prototype, to samples and commercialization.
  • Understands financial impact of design decisions.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of industry trends.
  • Articulates a business rationale for a particular design.
  • Applies excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Develops cross-cultural and cross-functional communication skills driven through the lens of emotional intelligence.
  • Makes clear, concise design presentations adjusted for the audience.
  • Displays strong communication skills.
  • Explores new visual aid techniques.
  • Finds compelling and convincing ways to present ideas.

$110,000 - $120,000

The salary range posted reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this role in Goleta, CA. Individual pay will be determined by location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
