On 10 October 2018, Tyndall AFB sustained a direct hit from Hurricane Michael, the strongest sustained-wind hurricane to hit the continental United States in over 25 years. Every facility on the installation sustained some damage with approximately 50% of the facilities damaged beyond economical repair. This program includes approximately 150 facilities valued in excess of $3B. Though the majority of the effort will be Military Construction (MILCON) projects, the P&DI will also support the integration of other types of projects including Facility Sustainment, Restoration and Modernization (FSRM), Non-Appropriated funds (NAF), Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES), Defense Commissary Agency ( DeCA ), and others into the overall rebuilding effort. The rebuild program is expected to take 5 years.
To enhance the successful completion of the reconstruction program, the Air Force established the Tyndall Program Management Office (PMO) to oversee the rebuilding effort. Michael Baker International is the Program and Design Integrator (P&DI) who will assist the Air Force PMO Executive Director and the PMO Director with program oversight and integration. The P&DI will develop guidance for the management of the program, recommend acquisition and execution strategies, oversee the implementation of those strategies, coordinate the actions and work products of a wide variety of agencies, design firms, construction contractors, and other stakeholders and analyze program performance.
The Construction Coordinator will report to the Program Integrator Lead and be responsible for assisting the Program Integrator Lead in reviewingcontractor's requests for information (RFIs), change requests, submittals, drawings, samples, and other work products, and identify inconsistencies, disconnects, or conflicts.
