Prevention Coordinator (Security)
The Prevention Coordinator provides leadership and management of the Prevention Grant administered by the Office of Population Health (OPHI) , in addition to coordinating the overall prevention portfolio throughout the organization. The Prevention Coordinator has the role of liaison between coalitions, federal, state, and local representatives, and community stakeholders. The Coordinator is also responsible for the implementation of evidenced-based environmental strategies and compliance issues. The position interprets basic prevention and intervention research and actively seeks opportunities to advance innovative perspectives throughout the organization. The Prevention Coordinator is responsible for managing a complex array of projects on abbreviated timelines. The Coordinator acts consistently with BHSB philosophy and expectations regarding all levels of prevention and helps promote the same throughout the organization. In general, the Prevention Coordinator collaborates with state and local stakeholders to implement prevention campaigns, programs and other strategies that are aligned with funding requirements, community needs, stakeholder input and BHSB's priorities.
This position works within the Strategy department, which seeks to advance BHSB's mission by overseeing organization-wide implementation of the strategic plan. There are several key areas in which the department provides leadership: developing capacity within the system of care to use data to improve outcomes; promoting resilience through educating providers and other stakeholders about the impact of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), toxic stress, and structural poverty and racism; supporting implementation of science-based practices that mitigate harm and promote culturally relevant healing; collaborating with community members and other stakeholders to develop and implement data-driven prevention strategies that promote mental health and wellbeing; and promoting and implementing harm reduction-related philosophy and service delivery through the Maryland Harm Reduction Institute and Bmore POWER, a peer-driven network of people with lived experience related to drug use.
