Responsibilities
Responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing logs and standing timber from government, private or other agencies to ensure a stable supply of logs, stumpage and raw material to meet manufacturing objectives and region operating goals. Sells excess and non-usable/non-profitable logs to external customers. Responsible for implementing the Company's policies, procedures, and management actions to ensure compliance with Sustainable Forestry Management, third party certification programs (SFI, FSC, & PEFC) and Chain-of-Custody system certification requirements. Assists with the communication of the Company's SFI commitment and promotion of the practice of sustainable forestry to employees, wood producers, and suppliers. Typically provides Region-wide support for multi-plant and/or products.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications : College Degree, or equivalent work experience in related job function.
Preferred Qualifications : Prefer degree in forestry management or related field with timber acquisition experience. Typically prefer 5-7 years of experience in related job function. Demonstrated knowledge of logging, milling, appraisal contracts and forestry operations is preferred. The successful candidate will have regional and/or local knowledge of timber resources and contracts (government, private, etc.); an understanding of timber cruising methods, log scaling practices, and contract administration; effective interpersonal, computer, analytical, and planning and organization skills; understand responsibilities for environmental compliance and management; and a strong commitment to safety.
