Job Summary:
The Painter role is responsible for front-end material receipt and distribution to machining centers. Sets up and operates paint application equipment to paint various production materials to production specifications. This role is responsible for sandblasting, painting, receiving, and storing products.
Essential Functions of Position:
Prepare and make ready equipment to be used, such as brushes and spray equipment. Select application based on standard procedures or recommendation by coating supplier. Read and adhere to applicable MSDS(s) for all materials to be used and be aware of all hazards involved. Prepare and mix materials per manufacturer's instructions. Select proper amount and type of thinners to be used. Apply coatings using equipment recommended by the manufactures or standard painting practices. Upon completion remove equipment and masking. Clean all equipment as specified. Ensure all leftover materials are properly stored and marked or disposed of as directed in hazardous material handling instructions. Under general supervision; ability to exercise judgment in line with an established process. Develops resolution of problems of limited scope following standard procedures. Responsible for the hands-on manufacturing of inventory and product. This includes individuals directly involved in the production of the product, i.e., those individuals charging 50% or more of their time against a factory production order and are recording earned (standard) production hours as a result of their activity.
Additional Responsibilities:
· Schedule job priorities utilizing dispatch reports
· Allocate or flex resources based on department's demand
· Compile data such as number of parts painted with respect to goals - as an input to Department's SQDC & Overall Equipment Effectiveness metrics
· Enforce adherence to Lean requirements such as 5S sustainment and Total Productive Maintenance
· Prepare and update Visual Management Board (GEMBA Boards) per Lean expectations
· Present Finishing (SQDC) Metrics to the Management in a daily basis
· Facilitate or coordinate Department's Root Cause Countermeasures and problem-solving analysis
· Set direct reports annual goals and mid-year reviews
· Manage Department's consumables i.e. min/max and PPEs
· Clock out Work Orders that has been completed using SAP
· Approve, adjust and or correct direct report's vacation and times in Kronos
· Spearhead department's Layered Audit and countermeasures
· Participate on weekly Master Production Schedule meeting
Safety Responsibilities:
· Responsible for managing purchase requests for PPE, materials and equipment for the department
· Must be able to successfully complete RCRA and DOT hazardous waste training, travel may be required.
Minimal Job Requirements:
· High School Diploma or equivalent required
· Previous manufacturing experience required
· 5+ years industrial/manufacturing painting experience required
· Must be able to read, write and speak English.
Physical Demands:
· Must, but not limited to, constantly stand, walk, and lift up 35 lbs
