PURPOSE OF POSITION:
To assist in managing retail store operations to achieve store revenue and expense goals. Position provides back up to the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager. Primary areas of responsibility include: staff management and training, sales, production, merchandising, and signage.
ENVIRONMENT OF POSITION: This position was created to offer an opportunity for advancement to
Sales Associates who had minimal or no prior retail experience, particularly in a supervisory or lead role. Applicants for this position also may not possess a high school diploma or GED; however, should an individual be approved for the apprentice position without a high school diploma or GED, he/she will be required to establish a plan for completing that certification within six months from the date of the promotion to the "Apprentice " position. To be eligible for this position, an employee must have worked in a sales associate position in a GIOC store for a minimum of six months (negotiable) with a satisfactory performance record.
At the end of ninety days in the position, performance will be evaluated to determine employee 's ability to move to a regular "Lead" position. If the employee is not ready to be promoted at the end of ninety days but his/her skills are developing in a positive manner, the apprentice period will be extended for another ninety days. At the end of six months, the employee 's performance/skills will be re-evaluated and the employee will be promoted at that time of the job qualifications are met. If the employee is not promotable at that time, other options will be considered including a possible move back to a sales associate position.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Reports directly to the Store Manager; receives work direction from Assistant Store Manager.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Gives work direction to Sales Associates, Store ADCs, Program Participants, Volunteers, and any other individuals assigned to store.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists the Manager in training and leading sales associates, clients and volunteers in the following areas: store and company policies and procedures, sorting/processing, selling, pricing, hanging, stocking, merchandising, cashiering, resolving customer service issues, and maintaining store housekeeping standards.

If applicable, employee agrees to establish a plan within six months to complete GED and understands that pursuit of this certification will be a condition for moving to a regular Lead Sales Associate position.
