The Manufacturing Engineering Manager's function is to provide production support to the production departments in support of absorption and quality levels. This includes process development, process validations, MRB activities, problem solving related to production, productivity goals, equipment, and new product support. This position is also responsible for all CNC programming, tooling, and equipment maintenance functions.
Prepare and maintain documentation necessary for efficient set-ups and operations to fabricate parts. Establish and meet Manufacturing Engineering departmental budgets and management-by-objective goals for the fiscal year including overall goals of manufacturing processes, absorption, and quality. Manage department personnel as per established company and Human Resources' guidelines Coordinate with Manufacturing, Ops Com, Materials, Project Engineering, Marketing, Design Engineering and Quality Assurance in new product development. Develop bill of operations and bill of materials for new product lines. Network and develop working relationships with other manufacturing companies in areas of contemporary and emerging manufacturing technologies. Implement and validate manufacturing equipment and in-house processes. Conduct vendor process validation and assist Purchasing to resolve vendor related product/process discrepancies in production. Prepare written and oral capital equipment proposals, status reports, training outlines, and other communications. Train the Manufacturing Engineering staff in the proper performance of their duties. Assist in the training of production personnel for new or changing processes. • Must have general knowledge of MRPII and other contemporary manufacturing systems, as well as a thorough knowledge of engineering theory, product and process design concepts, and manufacturing processes. • Experience with precision machining of metals and plastics, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and ISO 9000 is required. • Solid communication skills both verbal and written, and the ability to express concepts technically or in layperson's terms. He/she will have the ability to manage diverse tasks and personnel in a service department.
• A four (4) year Bachelor's Degree is required; along with 6-8 years Manufacturing Engineering related experience, with at least three (3) years in a supervisory role. An equivalent combination of education and experience.
