Data Protection Engineer - Information Security (Information Technology)

Data Protection Engineer - Information Security

This candidate will be responsible for coordinating the service management of Emerson's Global Data Protection solutions with focus on requirements development, technology selection, capacity, availability and performance management.  Provide support and escalation point for all operation and division related request or problems.  This resource will also be participating in projects delivering new services or enhanced capabilities in existing services.

Principal Functional Responsibilities

  • Administer, support and improve Emerson's global data protection services
    • Engineer and Manage current/future DLP technology
    • Engineer and Manage current/future CASB technology
    • Engineer and Manage current/future Rights Management solutions (DRM/RMS)
  • Serve as a subject matter expert within the organization to span technical, operational, and governance
  • Collaborating in the rules development life cycle including policy development, response rules, authoring, and maintenance
  • Auditing to include development, implementation, and maintenance and the regular evaluation of policies to validate and verify ongoing DLP coverage at all monitoring points is in place and effective
  • Perform routine auditing of system configuration compliance with established build standards.  Verify changes are in accordance with change control management.
  • Implements configurations enforcing Emerson's data policies and standards.
  • Proactively searches technology trends of the product; identifies and markets applicable uses of the product and components.
  • Act as a technical consultant to the enterprise and leads research, and prototyping of innovative technologies and products related to Emerson's Data Protection strategy.  Ensures the technology and architectural roadmap of engineering is properly aligned with and supports the product/business roadmap.
  • Assist with development, implementation and maintenance of technology specific standards, policies and procedures supporting Information Security Services.
  • Deliver content and reports as required

 

Education/Language

  • BA/BS in Business Administration, Information Technology or related area, may be substituted with years of experience in field.
  • Fluent in English
  • Security related certifications are a plus but not required
    • CISSP, MCSE, CISM, CISA, GIAC

 

 

Experience/Skills

  • 2-4 years of experience of related experience in IT including security and project(s).
  • Technical Skills needed:
    • Experience with Data Governance Concepts, Policies and Standards
    • Hands-on expertise with Data Tagging and Classification technologies.
    • Hands-on expertise with Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB) technologies
    • Hands-on expertise with Network and Endpoint Data Loss Prevention solutions
    • Experience with Digital Rights Management technologies and cloud governance solutions.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, Identity and Access Management solutions.
    • Working knowledge of implementing technologies with Windows and mobile computing platforms.
    • Excellent technical knowledge and aptitude in the areas of networks, network topologies, PC workstations (configuration and connectivity), network file servers, product software, and troubleshooting techniques.
    • Ability to solve infrastructure (i.e. server, network, application) problems and to manage the performance and capacity of the infrastructure.
    • Understanding the Change Control and Configuration Management.
    • Provides technical guidance and knowledge sharing
    • Experience with developing automation or scripting and coding in one or more scripting languages
    • Ability to solve complex problems with unique solutions or by providing experience from other areas with critical thinking skills “outside the box”
  • Business and Leadership skills needed:
    • Must have exceptional customer service orientation and written and verbal communication skills.
    • Experience with industry standard project management and support processes and best practices desired.  Project planning and management skills, including ability to identify and assess risk to determine action.
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on rapport-building, listening, and questioning skills.
    • Experience in effectively communicating with a broad base of end users and management.
    • Ability to anticipate user requirements and identify and resolve complex problems; strong customer service and communication skills.
    • Good judgment and analytical skills; strong follow-up and organization skills.
