Domestic Operations Agent I (Administrative)

Handles all aspects of inbound shipments and all customer service associated with that movement.


Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following and other duties as may be assigned.

 

Meet internal quality performance requirements and shipment handling procedures          

  • Coordinates local pick-up and delivery services through cartage companies in the local area        
  • Ensures that all inbound cargo is retrieved, verified and ready for delivery to meet service requirements               
  • Works with warehouse staff and cartage providers on Lynden's procedures for receiving and handling freight
  • Ensures that Lynden policies for handling of damaged freight is followed through detailed documentation of damages as well as timely processing of pre-claims
  • Maintains proper and accurate and well organized filing systems                                              
  • Attend to problems immediately; seek resolution and solve problems to meet and fulfill customer and agent expectations                                     
  • Uses a variety of electronic equipment including scanner, PC and printers to document, enter data, and complete paperwork processes.
  • Prepares and scans documents.
  • Performs quality control process on scanned images using computer and scanner.
  • Performs Imaging Validation Report Research and communicates with field.
  • Interfaces with staff members of other departments.

 EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 3 years related work experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as batch header sheets and procedure manuals; write routine messages and communicate effectively with co-workers.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

 Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

Basic computer skills required, including keyboarding and ten-key proficiency with speed and accuracy.  Self motivated with willingness to learn.  Able to work well as a part of a team or alone in a fast-paced environment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and handle keyboard, various forms of paperwork, write, and operate office equipment.  The employee is regularly required to use telephone, electronic mail and other standard department methods to communicate.  The employee is occasionally required to walk, bend and reach with legs, hands and arms while performing job duties.  The employee must occasionally lift up to 10 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.  Daily on-time attendance during assigned work shift is required.

  • Ability to possess and maintain a TSA Security Threat Assessment(STA) with a status of Passed, or a TSA recognized equivalent. TSA recognized equivalents include a Secure Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge, Commercial Driver's License(CDL) with Hazmat Endorsement issued within the 50 States or District of Columbia, the Transportation Worker Identification Card(TWIC), or Free and Secure Trade(FAST) card issued by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. STA's will be submitted by Lynden International upon job offer and renewed thereafter. Recognized equivalents must be current at time of application and successfully renewed by the applicant thereafter.
