Operational Excellence Lead (Information Technology)
The Operational Excellence and FERC Compliance Department is responsible for overseeing PJM's Human Performance and Operating Experience (HP&OE) Program as well as PJM's Internal Controls Program. The department also ensures that PJM maintains compliance with PJM's governing documents and other FERC filed rules and regulations as well applicable business practices developed by the North American Energy Standards Board (NAESB).
The Operational Excellence Lead is responsible for overseeing and managing the implementation of the Human Performance and Operating Experience program across PJM. This position will also be responsible for supporting other aspects of PJM's Operational Excellence programs or compliance programs.
The goals of the Human Performance and Operating Experience program are:
Prevent human errors from becoming significant and impactful negative events
Reduce frequency and impact of human error
Promote behaviors throughout the organization to support reliable operations
Implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence of events
Share and learn from internal and external events
Because of COVID-19 this position will be temporarily working from home until a return to campus plan is finalized.
Essential Functions:
Provide leadership for developing and implementing program process improvements and for future program planning and direction
Facilitate the development of annual program goals and detailed work tasks based on defined program strategies
Provide leadership and guidance to the Cross Divisional Core Team members for implementing the program and process improvements consistently across PJM
Monitor, review and communicate trends and emerging issues; provide escalation of issues where needed
Work with key stakeholders to implement improvement strategies and address emerging issues
Participate in, and ensure alignment with, key industry groups including NERC, NATF, and ReliabilityFirst
Develop and communicate key HP and OE Program metrics
Support Human Performance Tool Training, TapRooT Training, and DevonWay Training
Support administration and requirements gathering and implementation for the event analysis and action item tracking tool ( DevonWay)
Support projects and initiatives in the Operational Excellence and FERC Compliance department and Compliance division
Characteristic and Qualifications:
Required:
BS degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent work experience
At least 5 years of work experience
At least 4 years of experience Human Performance Improvement Event Analysis
Ability to communicate effectively with management, peers, and customers Ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal skills
Ability to produce high-quality work products with attention to detail
Ability to visualize and solve complex problems Experience managing projects or leading teams
Experience writing process documentation
Experience with implementing process improvements Process Improvement Managing projects and leading project teams
Ability to produce high-quality work products with attention to detail
Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (MS-Word, MS-Excel and MS-PowerPoint)
Preferred:
MBA degree or at least 8 years of work experience
At least 4 years of experience Leading Human Performance or Operating Experience Programs Leading Operational Excellence initiatives Event Analysis utilizing TapRooT methodology Regulatory and Compliance Internal Controls
Experience with PJM Operations, Markets, Planning, and ITS functions
Experience with PJM's internal systems, business process, and tools
Experience with PJM's regulatory and governing documents
Ability to deliver effective presentations and/or training
Experience with developing and/or documenting controls
Experience with PJM operations, markets, and planning functions
Experience supporting any of PJM Committees
