IAE Post Office Data & Business Operations Internship – Fall 2025 (Finance)



Organization
The University of South Florida (USF) Institute of Applied Engineering (IAE) provides agile, best-value engineering solutions to enhance the performance and effectiveness of its sponsors, including the Department of Defense; other federal, state, and local agencies; and industry. These solutions include hardware-and-software-based research, advanced technology development, prototypes, and technical services. This position offers employment by the IAE.

Position Summary
The IAE is seeking a Data & Business Operations Intern to support the USF Post Office in strengthening business processes and data management practices. This role will involve collecting, organizing, and storing operational data while also developing repeatable systems and workflows to improve efficiency. The intern will gain hands-on experience in business administration, data analysis, and process improvement within a professional university operations environment. This position provides supervision and direct work related to the USF Post Office.

Time Commitment

  • Hours of operation: 8:00am - 5:00pm, Monday-Friday.
  • Fall/Spring: 10 hours per week, in person.
  • Internship runs through May 2026 (Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters).

Qualifications

Required

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Junior or Senior pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Current GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and data management tools.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with supervisors.

Desired
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Knowledge of business process mapping and workflow design.
  • Prior experience in administrative or data-driven roles.
  • Familiarity with database management and reporting practices.

  • Collect, organize, and maintain operational and business data for the USF Post Office.
  • Develop and document repeatable processes to support ongoing operations.
  • Perform data analysis to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Build and maintain data management systems and tools for reporting.
  • Collaborate with Post Office leadership to implement business process improvements.
  • Support ad hoc data management and administrative projects as assigned.
