Human Resources Generalist (Project Management)



Status: FLSA Exempt
Hours: Full-time (40 hours/week)
Department: Administration
Location: Hybrid, 50% in WDIs Ann Arbor office
Summary: Provide all human resource functions from recruiting and onboarding to exit interviews, benefits administration, policy implementation, employment law compliance, etc.
Essential Job Functions:
Work closely with hiring supervisors regarding personnel changes:
Create, edit, review job descriptions prior to new recruiting efforts and for promotions; candidate selection and manage recruiting via the online application tracking system, act as primary contact to candidates Schedule/assist with interviews; propose interview questions; share employee benefit details to interviewed candidates; call top two finalists references; create offer letters Oversee onboarding, employee orientation and offboarding; maintain HR e-files Monitor employee activity HCM online (e.g., employee performance reviews by direct reports and managers, annual checklist completion, etc.)
Act as Benefits Administrator for all employee benefits (enrollment adds, changes, etc.), including communications to employees ad hoc and annually (e.g., open enrollment); work closely with insurance agent and manager to secure new insurance benefits when desired, etc. Maintain Employee Portal pages re: employee benefits, policies, and employee accessMaintain compliance with federal, State of MI, and local employment laws and regulations, etc.
Maintain WDI Benefits Wrap Summary Plan Documents document as needed Distribute the Summary Annual Report, download and distribute 403(b) annual Fee Disclosure, etc. Work closely with employment benefit attorney re: Summary of Material Modifications, Amendments, revision of Plan documents, etc. Maintain employment bulletin board with required state, federal labor law posters Work closely with immigration attorneys re: H-1B and Green Card pursuits and issues Work with attorney and manager to update personnel policies, Employee Handbook; recommend best practices Keep up with changing laws affecting employment benefits and other HR issues
Liaise, administer disability, workers compensation claims, travelers insurance policies Update staff group email accounts, WDIs org chart, etc. and act as liaison initiating forms for various entities (e.g., Ross IT, UM Grad Library circulation desk, Ross Operations, etc.) Create documents as needed (e.g., verification letters, new policies/procedures, etc.) Contribute to ways to improve employee morale, increase employee engagement, etc.
Additional duties may include, but not limited to:
Receive incoming phone calls to the WDI general phone lineOrder office supplies Assist other team members (e.g., NextBillion team with posts to the NB website)Assist in HR-related projects as needed (e.g., office move, team events, fun committee)Perform additional duties as assigned
