Shipping & Receiving Attendant (Project Management)
Gather, assemble and prepare outbound shipments following priorities, customer packaging specifications and/or Ridgefield's standards and procedures. Verify that items type and count match shipping orders. Relocate outbound shipments to the appropriate location and prepare and adhere shipping labels and paperwork.
Receive inbound shipments, assist unload and unpack shipments. Verify shipments against records (county and type) such as purchase orders, invoices, bill of landing, packing slip or others. Inspect inbound shipments to ensure overall visual quality. Record issues with the shipments including rejecting items as needed.
Monitor inbound shipment returns.
Dispose or set to recycling all inbound packaging materials.
Using forklift, scissor lifts, pallet jacks and other equipment, route received items to various departments or warehouse appropriate storage locations and sequence/order per procedures such as size, type, style, and color or product code.
Assist maintain warehouse inventories and audits.
Perform some of the Shipping Manager essential daily shipping duties for coverage.
Collaborate to maintain the warehousing and shipping areas clean, safe and organized.
Analyzes relevant data for significant trends and stays current on best practices related to the department and Ridgefield operations. Provide suggestions for improvement or alternatives when problems arise.
Regular reporting to the manager and coordination with staff in purchasing and customer service.
Attend and participate in required training, staff meetings, and other meetings as assigned.
Perform other duties and projects as assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
A combination of education, training, knowledge and experience that would ensure the successful performance of the position's duties, including experience in a manufacturing facility or operations.
Experience or aptitude to develop skills in proper and safe operation of forklifts, pallet jack, scissor lifts and other common load-moving equipment and tools. General proficiency with computer use and applications, and aptitude to develop proficiency with Ridgefield software and systems used in shipping operations.
Able to perform basic mathematical calculations as they apply to shipment and warehouse accountability.
Possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Pass and maintain a clear background record.
Required Skills & Competencies:
Possess or quickly develop skilled level on all shipping and receiving and warehousing methods and procedures, quality and safety standards, as well as working knowledge of Epi products and production processes.
Work well independently, as well as in a collaborative team and diverse environment.
Possess or quickly learn computer use skills to use Ridgefield shipping systems and internet access/research.
Flexible to adjust to change and address non-routine or emergency situations. Manage constant time-sensitive work demands that require good time and task management and prioritizing. and while completing tasks/projects in a timely manner.
Develop and maintain effective working relations with peers, other department staff, and transportation and delivery representatives. Exercise good judgement.
Effective communication skills in order to receive and relay work information. Follow through perform accurately after receiving oral and written instructions. Provide regular and accurate status reports to the supervisor and those who need to know. Promptly report problems or issues.
Research and review relevant information in order to reach adequate conclusions and make effective recommendations.
Equipment or Tools:
Operate a personal computer for administrative purposes, Microsoft Office applications and Ridgefield shipping software.
Operate standard office equipment.
Operate and safely drive a motor vehicle, forklift and other common warehouse equipment and tools such as dolly, pallet-jack, plastic-wrap machine.
Job Scope:
Level of Supervision Received:
Minimum supervision following initial training. Closer supervision during training or special projects as determined by the supervisor. Work is verified through a combination of reports and assessment of outcomes.
Level of Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no supervisory duties. May be assigned leadership role during manager's absence or projects.
Contact/Communication with others:
Extensive oral contacts and communications by phone and in-person, written communications is primarily in forms, electronic and informal. Internal contacts occur with all departments' staff. External contacts range from, customer representatives, shipping company representatives, vendors and contractors. May have contacts with the public.
Decision Making Capacities:
Decision-making is limited to within the duties of the job and Epi policies & procedures. All other matters would need discussion with or clearance by the supervisor.
Working Conditions:
Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time, as well as extended sitting while operating equipment.
Physical ability to perform warehousing, shipping and receiving duties, as well as use office equipment and stare at monitors.
Attention to detail and the ability to concentrate on task for extended periods of time.
Exposure to work environment common to plastics manufacturing including dust and high noise prone environment.

Job requires work hours that may exceed 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, work on weekends or evenings, and may include meetings past normal business hours, and a flexible schedule to accommodate department management and operations.
Drive and travel for work activities or attend training, seminars or represent the organization at meetings. Travel may include travel/commute within our region to deliver products or pick up supplies.
Follow, comply and enforce Ridgefield policies and procedures, as well as organizational and department goals and objectives.
May need to deal with hostile or disagreeable situations.
