Dockmaster POSITION SUMMARY The Dockmaster serves as the ambassador for the marina and is the first person with whom a customer will interact. The Dockmaster is responsible for the safe mooring of vessels, general operation of the docks, assisting boaters, and maintaining a safe and clean environment throughout the harbor and marina facilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ? Ability to work independently on projects directed from management when seasonal staff is not available ? Responsible for the cleanliness of the marina and yard facility including but not limited to trash, pressure washing, bathhouse clean up, community room clean up etc. ? Daily inspection and maintenance to provide a clean and safe facility ? Manage, train, schedule, and supervise dock staff during the summer boating season ? First line of customer service for incoming boats and storage customers ? Responsible for cleanliness and opening/closing of storage buildings during storage season ? Responsible for daily operations of marina docks including general maintenance ? Ensures that boaters observe all marina rules and regulations ? Availability to work overtime when required ? Ability to work weekends and holidays ? Ability to work in all weather conditions including rain, heat, snow, etc. ? Ability to prioritize and execute all tasks as assigned by General Manager ? Ability to complete tasks in a timely matter ? Tasks are subject to change at a moment's notice based on the needs of the members and staff
TECHNICAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS ? High school diploma or equivalent preferred ? 2-5 years' marina experience preferred ? Ability to work independently ? Ability to make complex decisions ? Ability to work safely around the water ? Must be able to swim ? Ability to lift 50 pounds ? Basic boat handling skills preferred ? Knowledge of dock construction and repair preferred ? Knowledge of basic power tools preferred
MINIMUM SOFT SKILLS QUALIFICATIONS ? Excellent verbal communication skills ? Positive attitude and willingness to learn ? Ability to provide exceptional customer service and an understanding of customers' needs ? Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills while working both independently and within a team context ? Organizational skills are a must ?
