Job Description
The Washington Post is looking for an energetic and experienced assignment editor to lead our coverage of professional basketball.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of heading a team of reporters and collaborating with fellow editors on coverage of daily news, major events and projects. This editor also should understand digital storytelling forms and be versed in reader engagement metrics. This editor should be able to help journalists conceive and organize their story ideas and coverage plans, and to work with them to sharpen their prose so that it is clear and distinguished. The ideal candidate also will have an understanding of the role athletes play in shaping and reflecting broader issues in our society.
We're looking for someone with at least five years' experience as an editor.
