Role Description
The Underwriting Team decides the terms and conditions of an insurance application and assesses the risks of insuring a person or company according to the likelihood of a claim being made. Opportunities in this area can include:
Rating & Quoting - responsible for analyzing RFPs and processing, distributing, and responding to inquiries regarding formal Proposals with the objective of ensuring that client satisfaction, accuracy, and profitability are achieved. Major responsibilities include Rating, Quoting, and adjusting proposals based on customer and marketplace needs to support a competitive quote that meets our profitability as well as the customer's benefit offering needs.
Renewing - responsible for analyzing existing customer and portfolio renewal information to determine the pricing and consultative approach to continuing group insurance and service offerings for the coming period. Major responsibilities include historical experience analysis, assessment of customer needs, and understanding/action planning around evolving competitive pressures related to the customer/portfolio. Underwriters involved in the renewal of business are typically assigned a block or region of cases and communicate their decisions in a manner that contributes to both the profitability of the product and the reputation of the company.
Policies & Procedures - responsible for the processes, tools, and knowledge management systems that support the efforts of the Rating and Renewing underwriters. Major responsibilities include the creation of new and review of existing process and policy documents, development and testing of underwriting system tool enhancements in concert with the Pricing and Information Technology teams, and maintenance of existing system Underwriting tools to assure performance and execution within the teams is strong.
Education/Qualifications :
Applicants must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization. F-1 visa holders with Optional Practical Training (OPT) who will require H-1B status, TNs, or current H-1B visa holders will not be considered. H1-B and green card sponsorship is not available for this position.
