Assistant Produce Manager (Creative Design)
We are actively seeking anAssistant Produce Manager for our new store location inSayville, NY! (coming soon!) OurProduce Managers are responsible for assisting with the operations of the Produce Department within our store. This individual will assist the Produce Manager with staff hiring, training and with ensuring that our standards of operating within the department are upheld on a daily basis. Collaborating with our Leadership, the Assistant Manager will create displays, manage and track inventory and will communicate with other department managers to manage efforts.
Responsibilities
Manage department activities related to stocking, pricing and rotation of merchandiseAssist in ordering, receiving, display and sale of all products in accordance to company quality and merchandising standardsCollaborate with Merchandising VP and Produce Manager to develop pricing plan and marketing planAssist in developing marketing events and other promotional activities to maximize sales and profitsCollaborate with Merchandising Director and Produce Manager to develop work plan and labor scheduleAssist in managing department inventory to maintain proper stock level so that there is no out of stock and over-stock productsPrepare weekly sales reports for managementEnsure all invoices and bills are processed accurately and in a timely fashionMaintain accurate records of sales, purchases, and any transfers daily between departmentsEnsure that the work environment is clean and safeComply with federal, state and local lawsDispose of all outdated and spoiled produce, which is no longer suitable for saleAssisting to monitor and control all procurement costs and expenses according to the budget limitEnsure customer satisfaction by resolving customer concerns and problems in timely mannerWork with Store Manager and Produce Manager on hiring, evaluation and overall supervision of department personnelTrain the produce team in new policies and product knowledgeOther duties and functions as assigned
Requirements
HS Diploma or equivalentA minimum of 3 years of experience working with produce, fruits and vegetablesAttention to detail and organizationExceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the desire and ability to work in a supportive team environmentFollow sanitary and safety guidelinesAbility to work in a cold refrigerated environment whether for the entire shift or part of the shiftAbility to work varied scheduled shifts for departmentAbility to read, write and communicate using English language enough to perform job functions, conduct business related mathematics and analyze data as required.

Working Conditions
Most of the time is spent moving about continuously on hard surfaces. There may be a need to frequently position oneself to examine and/or scan merchandise, including bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping.May require lifting objects up to 30 pounds. May require lifting and moving heavy and/or awkward objects more than 30 pounds with assistance.Usually in a comfortable indoor environment surrounded by moving machinery and/or loud equipment that may require shouting in order to be heard. There could be exposure to temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and/or coolers.There may be occasional exposure to cleaning agents.
