Soccer Support Staff (Creative Design)



The salary for this position starts at $15.00 hourly. We take into consideration an individual's background and experience in determining salary; therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of other benefits and earned time off that vary depending on part-time or full-time status.
Schedule:

Monday 4:00pm-9:00pm
Tuesday 4:00pm-9:00pm
Saturday morning game days, as needed.

1. Job Summary:
The Sports Support Staff is responsible to support sports program. Serve as support for sporting events, practices, games and/or events. Assist participants and staff in a variety of sports practices, games and/or events. May need to serve as coach, referee or other role/task as necessary to support program success. Encourage and demonstrate sportsmanship. Support the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
2. Essential Functions:

Provide sports support and activities for sports program.
Assist with demonstrations at practices as needed.
Set-up and breakdown of equipment at sporting events/practices.
Enforce rules/regulations for each sports league and instructional program.
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect program participants, staff, equipment and facility.
Listen to concerns, resolve issues and correct inappropriate behavior, share with leader or site coordinator as necessary.
Follow mandated abuse and incident reporting requirements.
Build effective, authentic relationships with players, coaches and parents; helps them connect with each other and the YMCA. Encourages parent involvement and identifies potential volunteers.
Follow all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary. Document situations and communicate timely to Sports Director.
Assist with participant check-in prior to each event as needed.
Assist with preparation, tear-down and inspection of the game site and equipment.
Performs other duties as assigned.

3. Relationships:
This position reports to Sports Director who reports to the Executive Director of Sports. The individual interacts regularly with sports team members, volunteers and Association support team members.
4. Qualifications:
Required

Must be 15 years old or older.
Knowledge of rules in sports recreation program activities.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to build community relationships.
Basic skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
CPR/PR, First Aid, AED, and Oxygen certifications, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
Ability to manage programs to a diverse population.
Must be available to work evenings and weekends.
Must have a desire to work with children and relate to them in a positive, energetic manner.

Preferred

Bachelors degree in Recreation, Management, physical education or related field.
Bi/multilingual.

5. Physical Demands:

Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs, kneel, bend, twist and reach.
Must be able to assist in sports drills with youth.
