Position Description:
The Assistant Store Manager is solely accountable for the store associates, ensuring exceptional customer service, processing transactions, merchandizing and stocking the sales floor. Key responsibilities include people leadership, customer service, store operations, financial management, inventory control, and most importantly the training and development of associates. Coordination and collaboration with the Store Manager will be critical to the success of this position. They will exemplify a culture of PRIDE (Passion, Respect, Integrity, Dedication and Excellence) at all times and ensure that a culture of PRIDE is evident in the stores they are responsible for leading.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership Leads daily activity of the store employees.
Responsible for ensuring the store employees are productive and demonstrating a culture of PRIDE.Responsible for ensuring store goals and performance expectations are met.Be open to the associates, and forward feedback, issues, problems, and recognition to the Store Manager as appropriate.Will have store open and close responsibilities.
Customer & Community Collaborates with customers to understand and deliver customers needs & expectations.
Provide exceptional customer service throughout the store. Build and maintain internal and external customer satisfaction.Assist customers with merchandise selection, to include suggestion selling.Proactively acknowledge, greet, and help customers in any area of the store.Assist customers/donors in a timely and courteous manner by answering questions or directing them to a supervisor.Inform guests of the best deals of the day, color of the week, 50% off sale, senior day, etc.Communicate Goodwills Mission and Focus.
Point of Sale Implements strategies to maximize profit by processing transactions.
Provide exceptional customer service.Ensure all merchandise is accurately priced and sold.Take appropriate measures to safeguard funds and merchandise.Participate fully with current promotions, such as sales and round-up.Collect and enter customer information in the POS system. Operates POS system: handles cash, checks, and credit card transactions, closing out cash drawer and balancing all transactions.
Sales floor Merchandize and stock the sales floor.
Merchandise, restock and provide general floor maintenance where needed.Stock the sales floor with merchandise from the backroom.Place and remove signage as needed.

Report any incident of theft, fraud, waste, or unauthorized possession of company property.Uphold safe work practices in support of a safety culture through awareness and observation; assist in safety training of employees; reports any potential hazards or accidents.
Additional Information
Performs other related duties as assigned.Specific goals and expectations will be provided by the Sales Manager.Requires punctual and regular attendance. Time away from work is approved and taken in accordance with established policies.
Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills):
Must be at least 18 years of age or older.Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent is preferred.Experience: 6 months retail experience, preferably in a Goodwill store.Must be able to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.Excellent customer service skills are necessary.Must be able to interact cordially with a diverse group of individuals.Able to communicate and understand instructions, both verbal and written, in English.Able to market Goodwill and explain the mission to the general public.Able to lift and carry objects weighing 30-40lbs or up to 100lbs utilizing a team lift.Able to engage in prolonged standing and walking.Able to perform frequent bending, stooping and stretching.
