Industrial Hygiene Asbestos Field Technician (Finance)

Role description:

Arcadis is seeking an Industrial Hygiene Field Technician to join our Sustainable Operations team in the Novi, Michigan office. This will be approximately 90% field work and 10% office work. Projects will primarily consist of asbestos, lead-paint, hazardous building materials, indoor air quality/mold, IH exposure monitoring, building characterization assessments, soil/water sampling, project monitoring/oversite, and report preparation. Candidates will have a minimum of 1-2 years of experience and possess the proper licenses and credentials to complete the job. Specific training will be provided by Arcadis.

Role accountabilities:

As an Industrial Hygiene Field Technician you will complete surveys, bulk sampling abatement oversite, air monitoring and assessments of various types of projects, including but not limited to manufacturing plants, warehouses, public and private buildings, schools, and residential homes. You will also prepare reports for projects completed using Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other various programs.

  • Complete asbestos and lead-paint surveys and abatement projects, indoor air and mold investigations and mold/water damage remediation projects, ventilation assessments, and the development and review of health and safety plans (HASPs)
  • Work in a client-oriented consulting environment with focus on industrial hygiene practice, specifically asbestos, lead-paint, and hazardous building materials management, indoor air quality and mold evaluations, and chemical exposure assessments.
  • Be mentored by senior members of the EH&S consulting discipline from a technical and business prospective.
  • Perform inspections/surveys for asbestos, lead, mold (water intrusion), IAQ, and other regulated building materials.

In this role you must be willing to travel as needed and may include overnight trips, possess a valid driver license, be able to pass a medical exam and be medically cleared to wear a negative pressure respirator, and be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. of equipment throughout an 8-hour shift.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 year of experience in the professional services or consulting business.
  • State specific asbestos training and valid license
  • Knowledge of applicable OSHA, EPA, and state regulations for asbestos, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER
  • Industry recognized certification in industrial hygiene (e.g. CIH, IHT) and/or indoor environmental or air quality consulting (e.g. CIEC, CIAQP)
  • NIOSH 582 training
  • Additional state certifications outside of Michigan

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
