This leadership position reports to the VP, Chief Accounting Officer and leads the Company's global accounting, consolidation and stock administration functions, in a fast-paced, rapidly-changing environment.This position is highly visible and requires strong people leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills with process improvement expertise, an ability to implement operational processes and appropriate internal control procedures as well as influence executive management.This role routinely partners and collaborates with senior executives, committees, peers, and external auditors to influence strategic objectives and ensure outcomes in a manner consistent with company accounting policies and generally accepted accounting principles (U.S GAAP), Sarbanes-Oxley, and other applicable laws and regulations. The position will be involved with various ad hoc analyses and critical business issues for senior management.
Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, including direct supervision of Directors responsible for protection of the Company's assets and accurate financial reporting
Oversee the development and maintenance of global accounting policies and procedures, ensuring the policies are in compliance with GAAP and are adhered to in practice; lead regular calls with global accounting leaders to drive global consistency in policies and procedures
Oversee the month-end close process and daily operations of the accounting department supporting the operations in the Americas region, as well as the global consolidation
Ensure timeliness, accuracy and usefulness of reporting; oversee the preparation and communication of the monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements that comply with public company requirements
Ensure maintenance of effective internal controls and appropriate accounting procedures, including evaluation of processes and controls for compliance with SOX 404
Participate in and lead the implementation of new accounting standards
Direct change initiatives, operational effectiveness and process improvements
Play a leading role in the company-wide projects that impact the Accounting department, including system implementation, M&A integration and policy setting
Determine, through consultation with various corporate functions as well as senior executives, recommended updates to global signatory authority and management approval policies; provide training and guidance to executive team and remaining global organization
Provide and communicate accurate and timely information for decision making to management
Oversee the performance of month-end financial analysis to ensure accuracy of financial reporting
Partner with FP&A to ensure accurate reported results and forecasts
Assess financial systems and process enhancements and drive improvements throughout the organization
Oversee the global stock plan services function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, timely administration and compliance with all applicable rules and regulations
Prepare financial reporting for presentation to the Audit Committee and present information to the Audit Committee, when requested
Lead the relationship with the independent auditor during quarterly reviews, interim testing, and annual audits
Develop corporate and organizational policies and authorize the implementation
Participate, as appropriate, in strategic initiatives of the company involving accounting matters
Recruit top talent and mentor team members, helping them reach their peak potential; foster a culture of continuous improvement complete with benchmarks for measuring successful performance

Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree (BA) in Accounting or Finance
Active CPA license
Minimum of 12 years progressively responsible accounting and finance experience, including 7 years in a management capacity Big 4 public accounting firm experience preferred
Life science and manufacturing industries accounting experience a plus
Strong leadership skills and proactive problem-solving approach
A through understanding of US GAAP requirements and a strong ability to interpret and apply GAAP to real-life issues at hand
Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple concurrent projects
Able to act independently, exercising independent decision-making and fulfilling responsibilities with minimal supervision
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
Excellent organizational skills and detail-oriented self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaborate to meet deadlines
