Network Engineer (Onsite Engineer – Extreme Certified)

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer V with an Extreme Networks certification to provide onsite engineering support for enterprise-class network systems in a mission-critical DoD environment. This senior-level role involves advanced design, implementation, troubleshooting, and optimization of multi-vendor network infrastructure, with a primary focus on Extreme Networks products and solutions.
The ideal candidate will bring 10+ years of hands-on network engineering experience, strong problem-solving abilities, and proven success in managing secure, large-scale, high-availability networks.
What You'll Do
- Serve as the onsite subject matter expert for Extreme Networks infrastructure (switches, routers, access points, management tools).
- Design, configure, and optimize LAN/WAN networks, including Layer 2/3 routing, switching, OSPF, BGP, and MPLS.
- Manage and support wireless solutions across Aruba (Airwave, ClearPass, Controllers, APs) and Ruckus platforms.
- Configure and maintain firewalls and security platforms, including Palo Alto (PA series, WildFire, URL Filtering).
- Support VMware NSX (v6.2) virtualized networking environments.
- Administer network monitoring and management tools (SolarWinds, InMon Sentinel, Uptrends).
- Troubleshoot complex network incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement lasting solutions.
- Lead or support network upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure expansion projects.
- Ensure all network services remain compliant with DoD cybersecurity and accreditation requirements.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of directly related experience, OR
- Associate's degree with 7+ years of directly related experience.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in enterprise network engineering, with a focus on Extreme Networks solutions.
Certifications (Required)
- Extreme Networks Certification
- CCNA Certification or equivalent
- CE/OS Certification and any of the following: (CySA+, Security+, CND, or SSCP)

- Extreme Networks Layer 2/3, MLXe, Extreme IQ
- Aruba Networks (Airwave, ClearPass, Controllers, APs)
- Ruckus switches, controllers, and APs
- Cisco routers and switches
- Palo Alto Firewalls (PA-7050, PA-3060, PA-3260, PA-5450), WildFire, URL Filtering
- VMware NSX (Install, Configure, Manage v6.2)
- Ciena 100G OME 6500 DWDM System
- SolarWinds, InMon Sentinel, Uptrends
Key Skills
- Deep knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, and network security.
- Advanced troubleshooting and analytical abilities
- Excellent communication and collaboration in fast-paced environments.
