Position Information
The Vice President and Group Counsel will oversee and manage all revenue facing transactions and act as the primary legal advisor to the Chief Revenue Officer of the $1 billion + U.S. Consumer Services business division at Equifax, Inc., where his/her responsibilities include partnering with business leaders and aligning legal resources and initiatives to drive results and growth.
Responsibilities:
Advise, and work closely with, management on legal risks, strategy, compliance, and policy in relation to production, sales, operations, and business growth;
Provide effective counsel to internal clients by providing clear, concise, and creative solutions to meet business needs within legal requirements;
Negotiate and execute on complex commercial transactions;
Lead a team of 10 lawyers supporting different areas of the business in a fast-paced, high demand, heavily regulated environment;
Serve on the U.S. Legal leadership team, reporting to the SVP, U.S. Legal and lead improvement initiatives and team goals;
Develop and deliver training to inform internal teams on best legal practices related to commercial operations and mentor less experienced team members;
Work closely with other internal executives to execute company business objectives and drive legal department initiatives to successful completion.
Qualifications & Skills:
This position requires a self-motivated and goal-oriented person. The Vice President and Group Counsel will have excellent consultative and communication skills and a proven ability to influence and articulate points of view and data in a clear and compelling manner. The ability to work effectively within a team-oriented culture is integral. The counsel must be process-driven, comfortable with ambiguity in a dynamic environment, and possess strong prioritization, organization, interpersonal skills, accountability, reliability, and passion.
Other qualifications include:
A self-motivated and goal-oriented individual;
High level of business acumen with an appreciation for weighing legal and business risk;
10+ years of broad general commercial legal experience in a corporate legal department;
Excellent consultative and communication skills with a proven ability to influence and advise in a clear and compelling manner;
Proven ability to establish strategy and to translate it into an effective, long-term action plan;
Proven ability to lead a legal team in a highly matrixed and complex environment with a high volume of matters;
A proven track record of leadership experience and dedication to build up and lead teams;
Strong prioritization, organization, and interpersonal skills within all levels of the organization.
