Scale Clerk (Agriculture)
Arcosa Specialty Materials is searching for a Scale Clerk for our Carson City, Nevada plant. In this role you will support a positive safety culture staff within an aggregate environment that is regulated by MSHA safety standards. As a Scale Clerk (Fullfillment Support) you will run the scale house, provide customer service, and support staff through various administrative duties.
Arcosa Specialty Materials is a leading producer and distributor in the Western And Southwestern U.S. of lightweight and natural aggregates, including expanded shale and clay, crushed stone, sand and gravel, asphalt rock, and other products.
What You'll Do:
• Comply with all industry safety rules, procedures and applicable government regulations
• Greet and direct truck drivers and visitors, answer incoming phone calls, receive and route incoming deliveries
• Operate scale house by directing truck traffic, use CB radio, provide product labels and product pickup information to drivers; use computer to weigh trucks in and out, create pick sheets, log and track various information, type bills of lading and reports, receive in raw materials and supplies, create and manage purchase orders
• Work cooperatively with sales and production departments
• Communicate with truck brokers to secure transportation as needed for customer orders
• Maintain files and records in an organized manner
• Assist administrator and managers as required and perform other administrative duties as assigned
What You'll Need:
• 1-year minimum business office or scale house experience preferred
• Competency operating normal office equipment, proficiency at computer applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel, good typing skills
• Excellent verbal and communication skills, ability to interact with drivers and visitors with a cooperative, positive and professional attitude
• Ability to sit at a computer for approximately 10 hours a day, and willingness to work up to 11 hours per day, 5 to 6 days per week
• Prompt, regular and predictable attendance
• Previous trucking and/or aggregates experience is a plus
• Ability to learn DOT regulations and new operating systems
• Passing drug test, physical exam and background check
